Job summary

Responsibilities

  • To check menus and production sheets to determine type and quantities of foods.
  • To plan cooking schedule for timely meal preparation.
  • To prepare food according to standard recipes.
  • To distribute foods to various serving areas.
  • To serve hot food items during meal assembly process.
  • To assist and supervise food portioning and presentation.
  • To operate and maintain food preparation equipment.
  • To clean food preparation areas and equipment.
  • To indent food ingredient supplies as required.
  • To assist in receiving and storing food items.
  • To assist in menu planning and recipe development.
  • To inspect food for signs of spoilage.
  • To attend staff meetings and training sessions.
  • To comply with Occupational Safety and Health Act requirements.
  • To ensure adherence to ISO and hospital accreditation standards.
  • To actively participate in quality accreditation activities.
  • To address policies on patients and family rights.
  • To ensure compliance with Patient Safety Goals.
  • To adhere to Standard People Practice (SPP).
  • To work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • To assist with other responsibilities as assigned.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • To check menus and production sheets to determine type and quantities of meats, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts to be prepared.
  • To plan cooking schedule so that food will be ready at specific times (timeliness).
  • To prepare food in accordance to standard recipes.
  • To distribute foods to various serving areas.
  • To serve hot food items during meal assembly process.
  • To assist and supervise the food portioning and presentation during meal assembly process as assigned.
  • To operate and maintain good condition of all food preparation equipment and utensils. Report immediately to superior about any malfunctions.
  • To clean all equipment, food preparation areas as needed and/or assigned.
  • To indent food ingredient supplies for day’s work as required.
  • To assist in receiving and storing of food times as required.
  • To assist menu planning and development of new recipes.
  • To inspect food for sign of deterioration, mold or other contamination. Report immediately to superior on any spoilage.
  • To attend staff meeting, continuing training lectures/ workshops.
  • To carry out duties as an employee as stipulated in Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations 1994: To take reasonable care at work for the safety of yourself and other persons; To cooperate with your employer or any other person in the discharge of any duty; To wear or use any protective equipment or clothing provided by the employer; To comply with any instruction or measure on occupational safety and health.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 JCI Accreditation Standards MSQH Accreditation Standards, HACCP and/or Hospital Accreditation are adhered to and records maintained, if and when these programs are implemented.
  • Ensure to actively participate in all quality accreditation activities (e.g. JCI, MSQH, 5S – where applicable).
  • Ensure the policies on patients and family’s right are addressed at all times.
  • Ensure compliance to Patient Safety Goals as safety improvement measure recommended by World Alliance for Patient Safety (2008).
  • Ensure adherence to Standard People Practice (SPP).
  • Work collaboratively with leaders, clinicians, staff, visitors and patients in the development and promotion of behaviors, environment and patient care solutions.
  • To assist in any other responsibility as deemed necessary by immediate Superior or Hospital Management.
