Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre Damansara is seeking a dedicated hospital cook to prepare and serve nutritious, quality meals in line with approved menus and dietary requirements.

You will follow HACCP and food-safety standards, maintain cleanliness, and support daily kitchen operations while working in a fast-paced, team-based environment, including weekend and public holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum SPM or equivalent with culinary qualification.
• Experience as a cook in hospital, hotel, restaurant or institutional kitchen preferred.
• Knowledge of kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.
• Willing to work on shifts, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, standard recipes, portion sizes and dietary requirements.
• Ensure meals are served on time with consistent quality, taste and presentation.
• Follow HACCP, food safety and hygiene standards throughout preparation and handling.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, equipment, utensils and prep areas.
• Support daily kitchen operations including stock handling and proper storage.

Job Purpose

To prepare and serve safe, nutritious and quality meals in accordance with established menus, dietary requirements, food safety standards and hospital guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, standard recipes, portion sizes and dietary requirements.

Ensure meals are prepared and served on time while maintaining consistent food quality, taste and presentation.

Follow food safety, hygiene, infection control and HACCP requirements throughout food preparation and handling.

Maintain cleanliness and proper organisation of the kitchen, cooking equipment, utensils and food preparation areas.

Support daily kitchen operations including food preparation, stock handling and proper storage while working closely with the Food Services team.

Job Requirements

Minimum SPM, Certificate in Culinary Arts, Food Preparation or equivalent qualification.

Relevant experience as a Cook in a hospital, hotel, restaurant, catering or institutional kitchen is preferred.

Good knowledge of food preparation, kitchen hygiene and food safety practices.

Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with good teamwork and discipline.

Candidate must willing to work on shift basis, weekends and Public Holidays
