Job Title: Contracts Specialist
Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist with development and responsible for the administration of assigned contracts including contributing and reviewing scopes of work and contract conditions.
  2. Assist with the procurement of subcontractors including negotiating and conforming subcontract and supply agreements with detailed input from the procurement, engineering & construction team.
  3. Effectively manage subcontracts through all phases, including scope preparation, procurement, cost forecasting, subcontractor management, claims/variations processing, completion, and closeout.
  4. Ensure contractor's documentation, including insurance, bonds, and securities, are received in accordance with the contract and are safely stored.
  5. Develop and maintain sound professional relationships with key suppliers.
  6. Responsible for the correct and effective post-award administration of assigned contracts including assessing, reviewing, and advising applicable package managers in respect of contractor claims for variations, progress claims, and extensions.
  7. Review the contract general terms and conditions to highlight areas of risk such as ambiguities, conflicts, or deviations from the scope of work. Make recommendations to the Commercial Manager on risk mitigation; closely monitor remedial actions and suggest appropriate trade-offs.
  8. Implement mechanisms to monitor compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  9. Identify and recognize contract claims as they develop and provide input to the Commercial Manager for timely resolution, involving legal expertise as needed.
  10. Ensure adherence to contract securities and insurance provisions and implement requirements in Corporate Risk Management.
  11. Manage change control during post-award contract management, including contract variations.
  12. Review and coordinate monthly progress claims and prepare progress payment certificates.
  13. Manage relevant budgets and expenditure, ensuring compliance with protocols and procedures.
  14. Create purchase orders and review invoices against scope of work.
  15. Establish strong working relationships with BCI, management, and project stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
  1. Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Law, or related field.
  2. Proven ability to administer and prepare correspondence, position papers on contractual and commercial matters, with strong analytical and drafting skills.
  3. Highly organized and energetic team player with excellent communication skills.
  4. Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, applying time management and prioritization skills to deliver outcomes.
  5. Previous experience in a Contract Advisor or Contract Administrator role within engineering, resources, or construction industries.
