Job summary

Maybank is seeking an experienced communications professional to lead editorial review, QA and content development across internal and corporate communications. You will ensure accuracy, tone and accessibility while aligning with ROAR30 narrative and Maybank priorities.

The role requires strong English writing and editing skills, ability to work with senior leaders and designers, and proficient use of Microsoft 365 and approved AI tools under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in internal or corporate communications, journalism, editorial, copywriting, content or agency.
• Degree or equivalent in Communications, Journalism, English, PR, Marketing or Media Studies.
• Excellent written and spoken English, sharp editing and proofreading, range across leader, manager and frontline voices.
• Bahasa Malaysia an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Edit and proofread communications for accuracy, clarity, tone, British English and accessibility.
• Establish the objective, audience and desired action; advise on framing, channel fit, timing and risk.
• Turn technical input into concise, scannable content; explain why it matters and what action is required.
• Draft leadership messages, speeches, talking points, articles, announcements, FAQs and multi-channel content.
• Brief the Creative team; review layouts for message hierarchy, readability, brand alignment and final-copy integrity.
• Run requests from intake to publication; meet SLAs and flag risks early.
• Use approved AI tools responsibly to speed up research, drafting and adaptation; validate output and protect confidential information.
• Support Senior Writers on Corporate reporting content including data validation and stakeholder coordination.

Job description

• Editorial review and QA: Edit and proofread communications for accuracy, clarity, tone, British English and accessibility. Verify names, dates, figures and links before release.
• Advisory and strategic alignment: Establish the objective, audience and desired action, then advise on framing, channel fit, timing and risk. Sense-check against Maybank's priorities and the ROAR30 narrative.
• Employee-centred writing: Turn technical or jargon-heavy input into concise, scannable content that explains why it matters and what action is required.
• Content development: Draft leadership messages, speeches, talking points, articles, announcements, FAQs, campaign and event content and multi-channel adaptations.
• Creative partnership: Brief the Creative team, then review layouts for message hierarchy, readability, brand alignment and final-copy integrity.
• Delivery ownership: Run requests from intake to publication, meet agreed SLAs and flag risks early.
• AI-enabled productivity: Use approved AI tools responsibly to speed up research, drafting and adaptation. Validate every output and protect confidential information.
• Corporate reporting: Support Senior Writers on Annual Report and Sustainability Report content including data compilation and validation, stakeholder coordination, follow-ups and tracking of inputs and deadlines to ensure timely and accurate submissions.

Requirement:

• Experience: Solid experience in internal or corporate communications, journalism, editorial, copywriting, content or agency. Strong relevant portfolios also considered.
• Education: Degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Journalism, English, PR, Marketing or Media Studies.
• Writing craft: Excellent written and spoken English, sharp editing and proofreading, and range across leader, manager and frontline voices. Bahasa Malaysia an advantage.
• Judgement: Finds the core message, questions weak logic, spots reputational and governance risk, and translates strategy into employee language.
• Stakeholder management: Confident with senior leaders, subject-matter experts and designers under tight deadlines and competing priorities.
• Digital fluency and ways of working: Microsoft 365 and approved AI tools used with fact-checking and human review. Proactive, dependable and collaborative under pace.
