Job summary

CHEC Construction (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Safety Officer to implement and monitor OSH policies at project sites in Malaysia. The role requires monitoring compliance with safety laws and client requirements, plus conducting inspections and safety briefings.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, be a DOSH/JKKP SHO with Green Book, and have at least 3 years of construction safety experience, including risk assessments and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Registered Safety and Health Officer (SHO) with DOSH/JKKP and possess a valid Green Book.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in construction/civil engineering safety.
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian OSH legislation and related regulations.
• Experience in construction site safety management, risk assessment, accident investigation, and safety inspections.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor OSH policies, procedures, and safety programs at the project site.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian OSH laws, regulations, and client requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, toolbox meetings, and safety briefings to identify hazards.
• Monitor site activities to ensure safe work practices by employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; recommend corrective actions.
• Prepare and maintain safety documentation, reports, inspection records, and risk assessments.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures.
• Coordinate emergency response, fire safety, and preparedness activities at the project site.
• Deliver safety induction and training programmes for workers and subcontractors.
• Monitor PPE usage and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
