Job summary

Solarvest Holdings Bhd. seeks an experienced Construction Lead to manage on-site execution of electrical and civil works for HV systems, ensuring safety and compliance with QA/QC standards.

You will coordinate with clients, authorities, and subcontractors, monitor schedules, budgets, and documentation, and drive commissioning readiness across multiple project sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or civil engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 3 years of electrical/civil engineering or construction work background, with construction management related to HV power system an advantage.
• Valid CIDB Green Card.
• Willingness to be located at construction site/outstation during project execution.
• Knowledge of solar PV system installation, maintenance, performance monitoring, and electrical protection systems.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 requirements is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage construction works per the project execution plan, schedules, drawings, and specs.
• Provide daily updates and reports on construction performance to stakeholders.
• Review AFC drawings for practicality and compliance with project specs, codes, and standards.
• Resolve construction technical issues and interface with design teams and consultants.
• Ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials per project timelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure material specification compliance.
• Manage budgets, monitor costs, and highlight potential overruns.
• Act as construction liaison between client, authorities, and subcontractors.

Job description

To lead and manage construction works during operational phase, including system upgrade, modification, and performance improvement activities. The role ensures all design and execution works are delivered safely, accurately, and in compliance with technical, quality, and regulatory standards.

Construction Planning and Execution:

• Manage construction works as per developed project execution plan, schedules, milestones, drawings, technical specifications.
• Address site technical queries, resolve issues, and provide necessary approvals to maintain progress
• Develop and lead catch-up plans for construction, and commissioning activities in order to be aligned with project objectives and timelines.
• Carry out inspections to ensure work quality, compliance, and safety
• Provide daily updates and reports on construction performance to stakeholders
• Review of Approved for Construction (AFC) drawings to ensure practicality and compliance with project specifications, codes, and standards.
• Resolve construction technical issues, provide guidance, and interface with design teams and consultants
• Review vendor/subcontractor proposals, method statements and technical documentation for compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure timely delivery of equipment and materials as per project timelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure construction material specification compliance with project requirements.

Budget and Cost Control:

• Assist in preparing and monitoring the project budget and controlling costs
• Identify potential cost overruns, changes, or additional works, and ensure timely approval through change management processes
• Provide regular updates and reports on cost performance to stakeholders

Stakeholder Communication:

• Act as the primary construction liaison between the client, TNB/Government authorities, project teams, vendors, and subcontractors
• Attend project construction, meetings, present updates, and resolve construction issues.
• Ensure timely communication and reporting to all relevant parties on construction status and key issues
• Identify and assess project risks during all phases and develop mitigation plans
• Monitor risks throughout the project and ensure prompt action to minimize impacts

Quality Assurance and Safety:

• Ensure all engineering and construction activities comply with QA/QC procedures and safety standards
• Address non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively
• Promote a culture of safety and quality throughout the construction period.

Commissioning and Handover:

• Prepare, review all the testing procedure and program as per specifications
• Oversee the commissioning phase, ensuring all systems are tested and operational as per specifications
• Review final documentation from vendor/subcontractors to facilitate project handover
• Support client training and operational readiness as required

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of electrical/civil engineering or construction work background, with construction management related to High Voltage (HV) power system being added advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or civil engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution
• Possess valid CIDB Green Card.
• Able to be located at outstation (i.e. construction site) during project execution.
• Knowledge of solar PV system installation, maintenance, performance monitoring, and electrical protection systems
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 requirements is desirable
• Familiarity with construction requirements (e.g. JKR specifications, JPS specifications), and practical knowledge on “best practices” for construction activities.
• Strong understanding of low voltage (LV), Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) system integration and commissioning
• Competence in Microsoft Office (e.g. Project, Power Point, Excel, Words & etc.) and construction management software (e.g. Procore).
• Strong understanding of electrical drawings such as Single-Line-Diagram, PV Layout, etc.
• Strong understanding of civil drawings such as Foundation drawings, pile & rebar schedule, etc.
• Ability to perform technical due diligence, design validation, and retrofit feasibility studies
• Experienced in managing contractors, and site supervision
• Strong capability in planning and coordination with good resource management skills
• Timely proactive reporting to stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail
• Demonstrates leadership, accountability, and initiative in resolving technical issues
• Effective communicator with strong coordination and interpersonal skills
• Adaptable to field and office environments; able to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Upholds safety, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work
