The purpose of the Constable shall be to cooperate with the Police Department of Subang Jaya, under the orders and direction of the OCPD and/or his subordinates, in any and all activities where the Auxiliary is activated, and shall assist in maintaining order within the jurisdiction of Taylor’s University. They shall carry out any lawful order issued to them by a member of the Subang Jaya Police Department, respecting the chain of command.

To assist the Corporal of Auxiliary Police department in coordinating and managing the Auxiliary Police Team and all activities related to security for Taylor’s University.

KEY RESULT AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide a safe and secure environment for guests, visitors, staff, and students at the campus while maintaining a professional approach.
• Protect the assets and interests of the university, its students, and staff, ensuring effective and safe operations at all times.
• Carry out safety and security responsibilities as directed.
• Report emergencies to Senior Officers and take necessary actions during emergencies, incidents, criminal activities, pickets, riots, sabotage, and civil threats.
• Patrol designated routes or locations as determined from time to time.
• Direct traffic flow during peak hours and emergencies; handle errant motorists and illegal parkers.
• Immediately report to Senior Officers any mechanical, electrical faults, damage, leaks, fire, etc.
• Conduct surveillance via CCTV to detect criminal acts, accidents, or potential mishaps and act as per Police Act.
• Monitor, record, and report construction and maintenance works in the vicinity, including hours, nature, and noise levels.
• Support all security-related matters.

Description of Duties – Generally

• Direct traffic.
• Patrol assigned sectors on foot or by conveyance.
• Report conditions of streets, signs, obstructions.
• Take appropriate action affecting public safety.
• Employ problem-solving strategies.
• Assist community needs.
• Represent the Department at public functions.
• Assist co-workers, especially during absences.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Stand for long durations at stationary posts, controlling access to secure areas and greeting visitors.
• Perform rounds to ensure security of restricted areas without breaks.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

MINIMUM ACADEMIC / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION

SPM

• Effective communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English, both oral and written.
• Proficiency in using and maintaining relevant Department equipment.
• Understanding and application of Department rules, regulations, policies, directives, procedures, and job descriptions.
• Knowledge of local geography.
• Courteous interaction with all levels of supervision.

COMPETENCIES (BEHAVIOURAL)

• Enjoyment and active participation in security operations; good physical condition; ability to handle various end users.
• Willingness to work during weekends and public holidays.
• Proactive and result-oriented attitude.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Possess a valid driver’s license without restrictions or with correctable restrictions.
• Ability to work cooperatively and harmoniously with others.
• Free from conditions that might impair performance; physically capable of duties including first aid, operating police vehicles, and effective communication.
• No felony convictions unless fully pardoned.
