We are seeking a proactive Compliance Officer to take ownership of the company’s compliance function, advise management and strengthen internal policies and controls. This role suits someone with hands‑on experience dealing with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) who can manage compliance matters independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance & Advisory
Monitor applicable laws, regulations and guidelines, including BNM requirements where applicable, AMLA and PDPA, and assess their impact on the business.
Handle regulatory correspondence, enquiries and compliance matters with BNM and other relevant authorities, where applicable.
Develop, review and maintain compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
Advise management on regulatory obligations, compliance risks and recommended actions.
Review new business initiatives, products, agreements and marketing materials for compliance.
Compliance Monitoring & Risk Management
Develop and implement the annual compliance monitoring programme.
Conduct compliance reviews and internal assessments to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
Investigate potential breaches, recommend corrective actions and track their resolution.
Maintain compliance registers and support risk management initiatives.
Coordinate internal and external compliance audits and follow up on findings.
AML/CFT Compliance
Oversee the company’s anti-money laundering and counter-financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) framework.
Review Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and customer risk assessments, where applicable.
Assess adherence to AML/CFT policies and recommend improvements to internal controls.
Training & Management Reporting
Conduct compliance awareness and AML/CFT training for employees.
Prepare management reports covering regulatory developments, compliance findings and outstanding action items.
Work with internal stakeholders to embed compliance requirements into daily operations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management or a related discipline.
At least 3 years of relevant experience in Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, Governance or Regulatory Affairs.
Relevant experience dealing directly with BNM and familiarity with applicable regulatory requirements are essential.
Able to independently manage the compliance function, prioritise responsibilities and follow through with minimal supervision.
Good understanding of AMLA, PDPA and compliance requirements relevant to the business.
Experience in financing, credit, banking or financial services.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
Confident in communicating with management, regulators and internal stakeholders.
High standards of integrity, professionalism and attention to detail.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
