Job Description

The purpose of the Community Engagement & Influencer Specialist role at IKEA is to build and strengthen digital communities and content creators that authentically represent the IKEA brand, drive engagement, and grow brand affinity across social platforms. This role is responsible as Glocalization Content Lead (Merge of Global + Local) developing influencer partnerships, supporting PR on activating community-led content or activities, and creating culturally relevant conversations that position IKEA as a brand loved by the many. To bridge IKEA design philosophy with Malaysian living realities, curate unexpected linkage between global trends and local creators, making IKEA the hub for cross-cultural inspiration. Exposure to international trends, untapped content formats, and cross-cultural storytelling techniques that can help IKEA Malaysia stand out in a saturated market. By connecting brand purpose with real voices, from everyday Malaysians to lifestyle creators, the specialist will help drive reach, relevance, and advocacy through Identify trends from other markets (e.g., Japan’s minimalist micro-homes, other countries’ sustainability ethos) and adapt them for Malaysian audiences in innovative ways.

Your assignment

  • Develop and execute the influencer and KOL strategy in alignment with IKEA’s brand values and campaign goals.
  • Identify opportunities to build long-term creator partnerships across lifestyle, home, and design communities.
  • Source, evaluate, and manage relationships together with agencies support on influencers, creators, and brand ambassadors across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, etc.). Negotiate deliverables, timelines, and budget to ensure transparent, value-driven partnerships.
  • Always On Community Management to cultivate and support a vibrant IKEA digital community by engaging with local voices, fans, creators, and loyal customers.
  • Activate UGC (user-generated content), testimonials, and customer spotlights across IKEA Malaysia’s digital channels.
  • Work with Marketing Team and cross function team to build and coordinate with internal teams (e.g., marketing, social media, PR) to ensure influencer content complements broader campaign plans.
  • Ensure all influencer and community content aligns with IKEA’s tone of voice, visual identity, and brand values.
  • Track campaign KPIs (reach, engagement, cost per engagement, conversions, etc.) and deliver post-campaign reports with insights and recommendations.
  • Stay ahead of social, cultural, and content trends to keep IKEA relevant in conversations that matter to Malaysians.
  • Supporting PR led content or activities primarily for brand building activation. Maintain an up-to date influencer and community with PR related matter.
  • Proactively propose new ideas, platforms, and formats for influencer and community-driven storytelling.

Qualifications

Your profile

  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Certification in Social Media Marketing, Influencer Strategy, or Digital Content Creation is a plus.
  • Highly self-motivated with a passion for Influencer and Community for brand advocacy.
  • Genuinely inspired by real people and authentic voices. Motivated by finding meaningful ways to connect the IKEA brand with creators, customers, and local communities.
  • Excited by the idea that every customer, fan, or content creator can become an ambassador. Driven by building long-term, trust-based partnerships.
  • Solid understanding of influencer types (macro, micro, nano), paid vs earned partnerships, influencer selection criteria, briefing, content review, and disclosure guidelines (e.g., #ad, #sponsored)
  • Possess knowledge of how different platforms work (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook) - content formats, engagement dynamics, algorithms, and what resonates with audiences.
  • Possess knowledge of influencer workflows - from strategy, outreach, briefing, execution, approvals, publishing, to reporting.
  • Ability to assess what content works for different platforms, audiences, and brand moments - balancing authenticity with IKEA’s brand tone and values.
  • Understanding of local trends, subcultures, and values to ensure influencer choices and community content are locally relevant and culturally respectful.
  • Capable of co-creating briefs and ideas with creators, guiding content that is both creative and strategically aligned with campaign goals.
