The Role: Commodities News Editor

The Grade (for internal purposes only): G8 or G9 (depending on experience)

The Team: We cover two worldwide commodities sectors: energy and metals/mining. Our team of editors is based in several countries, and we work together to publish timely news and analysis.

The Impact: We provide workflow oversight and editorial decision-making. Do you love coordinating with writers and fellow editors? In this role, you will do just that. You will ensure that coverage of our sectors is written and posted to our online platform in a timely fashion, with a focus on quality.

Responsibilities

  • Edit a combination of timely news articles and in-depth features
  • Maintain S&P Global's high standards for quality and style.
  • Publish news articles to our real-time, online platform.
  • Communicate effectively with writers, editors and production staff.
  • Provide effective feedback to writers to help them grow in their roles.
  • Stay up to date with knowledge of covered industries.
  • Expand technical expertise by learning evolving systems and platforms.

Basic Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong editorial skills.
  • Journalism experience. Commodities industry experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral English-language skills.
  • Ability to multi-task while following a flexible schedule to meet deadlines.
  • Desire to expand your knowledge of the energy and metals/mining sectors.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience related to the commodities sector (preferably energy, sustainability and/or metals & mining)
  • Data analysis skills
  • Understanding of corporate finance and the equity markets

The Location: Manila, Penang, Islamabad or Buenos Aires

Grade Level: 8/9
