Qualifications

The Commis I prepares, cooks, and bakes food in designated kitchen areas for Guests and Team Members, following instructions and standards.

What will I be doing?

As the Commis I, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing food efficiently, economically, and hygienically according to standard recipes and procedures.
  • Supporting the Sous Chef or Chef de Partie to ensure smooth kitchen operations and prompt service.
  • Planning, preparing, and presenting high-quality food and beverage products and setups in the restaurant.
  • Working in accordance with recipes, standards, and plating guides.
  • Maintaining all HACCP standards within the hotel’s operations.
  • Using all equipment, tools, and machines appropriately.
  • Participating in off-site events when required.
  • Completing tasks outside the kitchen when requested.
  • Assisting in inventory management.
  • Understanding hotel occupancy, events, forecasts, and achievements.
  • Responding effectively to guest feedback.
  • Adapting to changes and learning new skills.
  • Maintaining a professional and positive attitude towards team members and supervisors.
  • Adhering to hotel rules and team member guidelines to ensure departmental smooth operation.
  • Participating actively in training sessions.
  • Checking the quality of food prepared by team members and making necessary adjustments.
  • Promoting teamwork to achieve departmental goals.
  • Performing duties efficiently and productively.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by management.
What are we looking for?

To succeed as a Commis I serving Hilton brands, you should demonstrate the following:

  • Junior Middle School diploma or higher.
  • At least 2 years’ experience as a Cook or 1 year as Commis II in a 5-star or high-standard international hotel or restaurant.
  • Valid health certificate.
  • Good knowledge of Western or Chinese cuisine.
  • Ability to work with various ingredients and products.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks timely.
  • Ability to work under stress, remain calm, and solve problems.
  • Ability to work in humid, hot, and loud environments.
  • Technical education in hospitality or culinary arts preferred.
  • Knowledge of HACCP standards preferred.
  • Good command of English, both verbal and written, preferred.
