Job summary

Asia Recruit seeks a Backend Developer for a Malaysia-based role. You will design, build and maintain high-performance server-side systems powering cloud-based solutions, collaborating with frontend engineers, product managers and stakeholders to deliver robust applications.

Responsibilities include API design (RESTful, GraphQL, RPC), database schemas, performance tuning, security best practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, Java, Go, Node.js, PHP).
• Experience with relational (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch).
• Experience designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Knowledge of API security (OAuth 2.0, JWT).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and their services.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications and APIs.
• Write clean, testable back-end code.
• Develop database schemas and queries.
• Optimize performance and API response times.
• Implement security best practices.
• Integrate backend with frontend and third-party services.
• Develop and maintain RESTful, GraphQL, and RPC APIs.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Participate in code reviews and document system design.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers and product managers.
• Stay updated with backend technologies and trends.
• Implement logging and monitoring for health and performance.
• Participate in on-call rotations for production support.
