Job description

Job Description: Clinical Skill Coordinator / Nurse Educator

The Clinical Skill Coordinator / Nurse Educator is a key role within the Clinical Simulation Center (CSC) at RUMC, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, coordination, and management of clinical skills education. This role is essential for ensuring that clinical skills training runs smoothly and effectively, providing support to both academic departments and students in their learning journey.

Responsibilities:

Administrative Management:

  • Manage clinical skills administrative tasks, including inventory management, replenishing consumables, and purchasing medical devices and equipment.
  • Regularly maintain tools and equipment, ensuring all items are properly cleaned, organized, and stored.
  • Conduct annual inventory checks and maintain records and documentation.

Self-Directed Learning:

  • Schedule and organize teaching and practice sessions across all academic departments.
  • Supervise students’ self-directed learning by familiarizing them with the required clinical skills, observing their performance, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Prepare teaching and demonstration aids, including medical devices, paraphernalia, and audio-visual equipment.
  • Set up skills stations as requested by academic departments.
  • Assist in preparing students for exams, including written tests and Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform any other duties as directed by the Director of CSC or management, aimed at enhancing the overall success of the Clinical Simulation Center and RUMC.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Paramedic Science, registered by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
  • Valid APC or nursing/medical assistant license.

Experience:

  • At least 2-3 years of related experience in clinical practice or clinical coordination.
  • Experience as a clinical educator or instructor is highly preferred.
  • Post-basic certification in a specialized clinical area is an added advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate teams and liaise with various levels of staff and authorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
