Duties and Responsibilities:
The Student Counseling Services (SCS) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Clinical Psychologist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the mental and emotional well-being of our students through individual psychotherapy sessions, crisis interventions and various wellness initiatives. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ lives by fostering resilience, promoting personal growth, and contributing to a supportive campus community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct clinical assessments to understand the psychological, emotional and behavioural issues affecting clients.
  • Utilize assessment tools and interviews to gather information, formulate diagnosis, create personalized treatment plans for clients.
  • Provide individual psychotherapy sessions to students facing personal, academic, and/or emotional challenges, ensuring a compassionate and professional approach.
  • Design, implement, evaluate workshops and talks focused on mental health, personal development, life skills, and self-enrichment.
  • Conduct stress assessments for incoming students and collaborate with university management to evaluate applicants’ suitability for the campus learning environment.
  • Assist in crisis intervention efforts, providing necessary support to impacted students and families during critical situations.
  • Plan, organize, and lead wellness programs and events in collaboration with student societies to promote a healthy and inclusive campus environment.
  • Refer students to appropriate mental health or community resources, when necessary, ensuring a holistic approach to their well-being.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping of psychotherapy sessions and uphold strict confidentiality in all aspects of work, adhering to safeguarding protocols when required.
  • Fulfill any other responsibilities as assigned to support the goals of the Counseling Unit.

Job Requirements

  • Candidate should possess a recognized Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and registered Clinical Psychologist with licensure from the Malaysian Allied Health Professional Council (MAHPC) .
  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Candidate must have ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Candidate with proficiency in English, Mandarin and Malay is an added advantage.
