Clinical Physician - Part-Time - Jacksonville
- Provides medical care to patients entering the urgent care facility
- Supports the company standards of care
- Complies with established standards, practices, and regulatory requirements
- Assures the needs of the patient are being met while remaining within the scope of practice as stated in State Statute
Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Comes prepared to care for patients and supports the urgent care site through actions and communication.
- Interacts regularly with the manager, keeping them informed of concerns and potential liability situations.
- Provides medical care to all patients presenting to the urgent care during assigned shifts.
- Arrives on time and ready to work at the start of shift; leaves after the clinic closes and the last patient leaves.
- Obtains adequate history and performs physical examinations based on presenting problems.
- Orders relevant laboratory and radiographic studies as needed.
- Makes therapeutic decisions in collaboration with the patient based on gathered information.
- Administers appropriate medications or treatments.
- Documents patient encounters thoroughly in the EMR according to norms and signs off on documentation.
- Reviews provider-related queries during shifts, completes necessary tasks, and follows up on patient care as needed.
- Participates in periodic staff meetings and educational programs.
- Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment in line with standards.
- Follows Universal Precautions and promotes their use.
- Ensures patient records are maintained accurately and kept confidential per HIPAA and PHI policies.
- Contributes to education programs for staff and participates in onboarding and training of new personnel and students.
- Acts as primary supervising physician for APPs, including Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants, in accordance with state regulations.
- Performs EMR reviews and investigates patient complaints to assess care appropriateness, advising the healthcare team accordingly.
- Provides observations on provider performance to the State Medical Director.
- Adheres to all policies, procedures, and the company's culture.
- Collaborates with managers and trainers on onboarding providers.
- Develops strong professional relationships within the team to ensure clear communication.
- Participates in remediation and disciplinary evaluations as necessary.
- Signs a Supervising Physician Agreement, updated annually, and serves as backup for other physicians.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience, Skills, and Education
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Florida
- Graduate of an accredited medical or osteopathic medical school
- Strong clinical judgment, procedural skills, and ability to teach adult learners
- Excellent bedside manner, customer service, and respect for patients and staff
- Familiarity with EMR systems
- Receptive to feedback and collaborative in approach
- Self-motivated, organized, and results-oriented
Preferred Professional Qualifications: Board certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Primary Care Medicine; experience in outpatient or urgent care settings.
Additional Qualifications: Appreciates team-based care and conflict resolution.
