Job summary

Astaka Holdings is seeking an experienced Architectural Clerk of Work in Johor Bahru. The ideal candidate will supervise all construction stages and ensure compliance with building regulations while managing project documentation and liaising with various stakeholders. Applicants should possess a recognized degree and extensive experience in managing complex construction projects, especially high-rise buildings. This role is integral to delivering high-quality, compliant construction outcomes on time and within budget.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years experience in construction projects.
  • Experience in high-rise properties with deep basement structures preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and regulations.

Job description

Supervise construction - Oversee all stages of construction, including piling, structural work, infrastructure and earthwork

Ensure compliance - Make sure work complies with construction drawings, specifications, building codes, regulations and local authority requirements

Quality control - Inspect materials and workmanship, and ensure quality control on-site

Safety - Ensure the safety of workers and the public, and that health standards and proper signage are in place

Document work - Maintain daily records, reports, and site diaries, and assist in preparing "as-built" drawings

Identify problems - Identify any issues or discrepancies, and propose solutions

Communicate - Liaise with the Resident Engineer and other relevant parties to report on progress and issues

Attend meetings - Attend site and technical meetings

Real-Time Problem Solving – Experienced to resolves unforeseen technical issues (e.g., design conflicts, site conditions) immediately to avoid delays.

Liaison Between Stakeholders

a. Acts as the bridge between the design team (architects, engineers), contractors, and the client.

b. Facilitates clear communication to align expectations and prevent misunderstandings.

• Familiar with contract administration on construction and consultant implementation eg. PAM, PWD, IEM conditions of contract etc.;

• Familiar with authorities’ liaison on project implementation for development;

• Familiarity with tendering process and possess an analytical and business mind during recommendation and award;

• Capable of providing value engineering input and alternative solutionsto save time and cost;

• Someone with critical and innovative thinking skills;

• Familiar with using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and AutoCAD software.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A recognized diploma or degree (or equivalent) in architectural science, architectural technology, building science or building technology or other related fields of study approved by LAM with minimum 10 years experience.

• Registration as IOW with LAM

• Having experience in high rise property with deep basement structures and infrastructure construction works, landscpare works and interior decoration (ID) etc will be prioritized.

• Prefer to have candidate with short notice.

• Proven success in managing and delivering complex construction projects on time and within budget.

• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.

• Excellent communication skills for efficient liaison with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and staff at all levels.

• Demonstrated experience in building and developing a strong and successful team.

• Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities

• Results-driven, proactive, and detail-oriented in construction quality.
