A leading company in construction seeks a Clerk of Work to oversee site compliance, quality control, and project coordination. This role requires a diploma in engineering or architecture and significant experience in site supervision. The successful candidate will ensure all standards are met and assist in the smooth execution of project phases.
Conduct daily inspections of site work to ensure compliance with contract specifications, drawings, and approved materials.
Monitor and record progress of works, ensuring quality control and workmanship are upheld.
Report any deviations, defects, or non-conformities to the Resident Engineer or supervising consultant or Project Manager.
2. Quality Assurance:
Ensure that construction materials used are as specified and stored properly on site.
Witness site and material tests as required, and record test results accurately.
Review and verify work done before allowing the next phase of work to begin.
3. Project Coordination:
Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to clarify on-site issues and ensure smooth workflow.
Attend site coordination and technical meetings when required.
4. Health and Safety:
Ensure that the contractor complies with safety regulations and site safety plans.
Report any unsafe practices or hazards to the safety officer or supervising engineer.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate site diaries, records, and photo documentation of construction activities.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on progress, issues, and observations.
Record weather conditions, labour resources, machinery usage, and any incidents.
Requirements:
Diploma/Certificate in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Architecture .
Minimum 3- 7 years of experience in site supervision, preferably in earth work, building, infrastructure, M&E works.
Experience in landfill cell construction and or liner work will be an added advantage.
Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and report accurately.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and digital reporting tools.
