A leading aerospace firm in Malaysia is seeking a highly experienced Tooling Manager/Chief Tooling Engineer to lead tooling compliance activities. The role requires a minimum of 20 years in tooling or project management, with strong proficiency in GD&T and leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and have a proven track record in compliance-driven environments. We are seeking a highly experienced and driven Tooling Manager/ Chief Tooling Engineer to lead, manage, and continuously improve our tooling compliance activities. This role demands technical proficiency, regulatory expertise, and the ability to mentor a cross-functional team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with deep knowledge in tooling, design, quality, and project management, and a proven track record in aligning operations with global compliance standards and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor the team in managing tooling compliance activities in alignment with Spirit's standards.
Validate and maintain all tooling-related external and technology procedures, documentation, and best practice guidelines.
Serve as the primary liaison for all customer technical discussions—internal and external—including negotiations, clarifications, and timely delivery of requirements.
Ensure tooling suppliers meet Spirit's quality and compliance expectations.
Interpret, validate, and propose improvements based on customer inputs and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain up-to-date procedures that reflect the latest quality system updates, customer-specific configurations, and regulatory standards.
Prepare comprehensive reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data for actionable recommendations.
Cascade organizational goals into measurable individual and team KPIs, and monitor progress to ensure alignment.
Ensure strict adherence to compliance standards such as AS9100, NADCAP, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and all relevant customer-specific standards.
Own and drive the achievement of KPIs with consistent monitoring and improvement.
Contribute to overall team success by proactively supporting related initiatives and goals.
Adhere to administrative and Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) procedures and requirements.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Experience: Minimum of 20 years in Tooling, Design, Quality, or Project Management, with at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership capacity.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
Technical Expertise:
Strong proficiency in Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Prior experience in compliance-driven manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with CATIA is a strong advantage.
Leadership & Management:
Proven track record in leading engineering or technical teams effectively.
Ability to develop strategic plans and drive execution across departments.
Analytical & Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and strategic planning capabilities.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence stakeholders.
Work Style:
Highly independent, proactive, and resourceful with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Technical Tools:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project); experience with CATIA preferred.
