Job description

We are a licensed Fund Management Company seeking an experienced Leader / Strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our dynamic team. As COO, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and overseeing the day-to-day operations of our funds management business in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. This is a full-time position.

What you'll be doing
  1. Report directly to the CEO, providing strategic leadership to steer the company's vision and growth.
  2. Provide strategic leadership across Operations, Finance & Accounting, Legal, and Information Management (IT), ensuring efficient service delivery.
  3. Lead IT projects, overseeing execution and timely delivery.
  4. Analyze financial performance and offer strategic guidance for decision-making.
  5. Manage critical stakeholders, including the board of directors and shareholders.
  6. Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and systems to support growth.
  7. Monitor and process fund management, unit trust, company accounts, and administration.
  8. Collaborate with the investment team to optimize operational processes.
  9. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve client satisfaction.
  10. Represent the operations function in the management team and contribute to strategic planning.
  11. Mentor and develop the operations team, fostering a high-performance culture.
  12. Assist in compiling the Company Business Plan and annual budget.
What we're looking for
  1. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a senior operations role within the funds management industry.
  2. Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, business, or related disciplines (ACCA/ICAEW/CPA, CIMA). CFA and/or CMSRL holder is an advantage.
  3. Knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).
  4. Understanding of fund management regulations and statutory requirements (Securities Commission/Bursa Malaysia).
  5. Knowledge of investment products including equities, bonds, money markets, derivatives, and structured products.
  6. Strong relationship-building skills with internal teams and external clients.
  7. Excellent communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder management.
  8. Strategic mindset to identify operational risks and opportunities.
  9. Strong commercial acumen and collaboration skills across investment, finance, and compliance functions.
  10. Ability to develop and implement operational infrastructure and systems for growth.
  11. Experience in policy review and ensuring compliance with current practices.
  12. Ability to liaise with regulators, auditors, brokers, banks, and industry associations.
