Chief Mechanic (Fertilizer Manufacturing)

Twin Arrow (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Mechanic to join our team in Sarawak. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery used in our fertilizer manufacturing operations.

What you'll be doing

• Manage and coordinate the maintenance and repair activities of the plant's mechanical equipment, including production machinery, vehicles, and supporting infrastructure
• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and lifespan of equipment
• Supervise and train a team of mechanics to ensure work is carried out to the highest standards
• Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and consumables, and manage procurement to maintain adequate supplies
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and equipment upgrades
• Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented and comply with relevant safety and environmental regulations

What we're looking for

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Chief Mechanic or Senior Mechanic in the automotive or manufacturing industry
• Strong technical expertise in the maintenance and repair of industrial machinery, equipment, and vehicles
• Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to quickly identify and resolve mechanical issues
• Ability to effectively manage a team of mechanics and foster a culture of continuous improvement
• Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
• Working knowledge of relevant safety regulations and best practices in the manufacturing industry
• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field would be an advantage
