Job Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Malaysia


Job Summary

We are seeking a high-caliber and operationally strong Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial function of a reputable public listed company with a growing regional footprint across Southeast Asia. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in financial operations, controllership, regulatory compliance, and treasury management, while also contributing to strategic financial planning, investments, and cross-border business expansion. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a balance of operational rigor and strategic foresight to drive financial excellence and shareholder value.


Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Operations & Compliance

    • Lead and oversee all day-to-day financial operations including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, tax, and audit for the group across SEA.

    • Ensure timely and accurate production of financial and management reports, including group consolidation and board reporting.

    • Implement and enhance internal controls, accounting standards, and financial governance across the organization.

  • Strategic Finance & Business Partnering

    • Support the CEO and executive leadership team with financial insight to shape business strategy, capital allocation, and long-term value creation.

    • Conduct financial analysis on business expansion plans, capital investments, pricing decisions, and commercial contracts.

    • Lead financial due diligence and integration efforts for M&A and regional growth initiatives.

  • Investor Relations & External Stakeholder Engagement

    • Build and manage strong relationships with investors, analysts, bankers, tax authorities, and regulators.

    • Play a key role in investor relations communications, including annual reports, AGMs, and investor presentations.

  • Risk & Treasury Management

    • Oversee risk management strategies including exposure to foreign exchange, credit, liquidity, and operational risks.

    • Manage the group’s capital structure, banking relationships, cash flow, and funding requirements.

  • Tax, Regulatory & Statutory Compliance

    • Ensure full compliance with local, regional, and international accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

    • Drive effective tax planning strategies to optimize the group’s fiscal efficiency across jurisdictions.

  • Leadership & People Development

    • Lead, develop, and inspire a lean but capable finance team across the group and SEA entities.

    • Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, process improvement, and innovation.

  • Other Responsibilities

    • Present recommendations to the Board and Executive Committee on financial policies, objectives, and strategic initiatives.

    • Undertake any other assignments as directed by the CEO or Board.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field. Professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA are mandatory.

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including leadership roles, with at least 3–5 years at CFO or Financial Controller level in a public listed company.

  • Strong technical knowledge of MFRS/IFRS, listing requirements, tax, and statutory regulations in Malaysia and SEA jurisdictions.

  • Demonstrated success in managing financial operations and delivering improvements in controls, systems, and reporting accuracy.

  • Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and investor relations is highly advantageous.

  • Familiar with financial management systems such as SAP or Oracle.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.

  • Proficient in English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia is highly advantageous
  • Strategic mindset with the willingness to be hands-on and detail-oriented when necessary
