A national association for estate owners is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to strategically lead the organization and manage its operations. We are looking for a passionate and visionary leader to be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Estate Owners’ Association (MEOA). The CEO is a strategic and dynamic leader responsible for the overall management and success of the association. The candidate is responsible for leading MEOA secretariat, setting its strategic direction, and overseeing its operations to achieve the association mission and goals. This involves working with the elected Office Bearers, administration staff, and engaging with members and relevant stakeholders.
A key focus of this role is building and maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government ministries, agencies, fellow industry associations, and international bodies. The CEO will play a pivotal role in shaping and influencing policy, ensuring the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of the Malaysian palm oil and rubber sectors.
Providing Strategic Leadership and Advocacy
Developing and executing MEOA's strategic plan in alignment with the Office Bearers’ vision and goals.
Serving as the primary spokesperson for MEOA, representing the association at local, regional, and international forums, conferences, and media engagements as per directive of the President.
Proactively identifying and addressing key challenges and opportunities facing the industry and its members.
Managing Key Stakeholder Relationship
Government and Ministries: Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key government bodies, including the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (KPK), Ministry of Finance (MOF), Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Human Resources, and others relevant to the industry.
Govt Agencies and Other Associations: Establish and nurture effective working relationships with government agencies such as the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), other regulatory bodies, and other industry associations.
Lobbying and Helping Shape Government Policy
Providing expert advice and recommendations to the government on policy matters related to taxation, trade, sustainability, labour, and market access; and leading the lobbying efforts of MEOA to influence policy-making at all levels of government.
Analysing proposed legislation and regulations, assessing their potential impact on the palm oil and rubber industries, and preparing position papers and submissions on behalf of MEOA.
Working closely with government officials to ensure that the interests of MEOA members are considered during the formulation of national policies and budgets.
Membership Engagement
Building and maintaining strong relationships with members, understanding their needs, and providing value.
Organizing and facilitating member meetings, workshops, and events to promote networking, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.
Driving membership growth and retention by actively engaging with prospective and current members.
Overseeing day-to-day operations of the Association
Ensuring the association operates in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and adheres to sound governance practices.
Managing the association's budget, financial resources, and ensuring financial sustainability.
Leading and managing the association's staff, fostering a positive work environment, and ensuring effective performance.
A dynamic leader with strong strategic thinking and communication skills.
Experience in stakeholder engagement, especially with government bodies and industry players.
Knowledge of policy, lobbying, or advocacy work.
Background in agriculture, plantation, or related sectors is an advantage.
Proven ability to manage people, budgets, and operations effectively.
