Job summary

Nexus International School Malaysia is seeking a Chemistry teacher for a three-month short-term contract from January to April 2027. The role involves teaching Y13 Chemistry IBDP, Y12 Chemistry IBDP, and Y9–Y11 Chemistry IGCSE, with expected contributions to lesson planning, delivery of high-quality lessons, and ongoing assessment.

• Degree in Chemistry and a recognised teaching qualification.
• Experience of IB or A Level Chemistry.

• Assess learners and provide actionable feedback.
• Maintain records and communicate learner progress to parents and staff.

Job description

Role Description

Teaching and Learning

• Plan and deliver high quality lessons to different key stages
• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment through fostering positive relationships
• Demonstrate structure and consistency through clear routines, expectations, and responsive classroom management
• Use adaptive teaching to ensure progress for learners with varying needs, including EAL, neurodiversity, and those requiring stretch and challenge
• Embed practical science as a core component of learning, using hands-on investigations to develop scientific inquiry, problem-solving skills, and real-world understanding

Curriculum and Subject Knowledge

• Demonstrate expert knowledge of subject content, pedagogy, and the relevant curriculum in Chemistry
• Demonstrate knowledge of subject content and pedagogy in KS3 Science education
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a coherent curriculum is effectively planned, documented, and reviewed

Assessment, Recording, and Reporting

• Use assessment effectively to inform planning, personalise learning, and provide actionable feedback
• Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with school and examination requirements
• Communicate learner progress clearly to parents, learners, and relevant staff
• Analyse assessment data to identify trends, celebrate successes, and plan next steps

Personal Specification

Required:

• Right to work in Malaysia - this will be either
• (b) on a Talent Pass,
• or (c) on a Dependant Pass with a Malaysian spouse
• A degree relevant to the post and a recognised teaching qualification
• Relevant curriculum experience appropriate to the age taught
• Experience of IB or A Level Chemistry
