Job summary

A leading global inspection and certification company is seeking a laboratory analyst in Sarawak, Malaysia. The successful candidate will perform testing and ensure quality control while maintaining equipment and adhering to safety protocols. A bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field is required, along with experience or a positive attitude from fresh graduates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related field is required.
  • 1-4 years of experience in an analytical laboratory is preferred, but fresh graduates are welcome.
  • Strong adherence to quality procedures and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and analysis in accordance with standard/in-house methods.
  • Ensure timeliness, precision, and accuracy of analytical results.
  • Maintain and calibrate analytical equipment as per schedule.
  • Investigation of non-conformities with appropriate corrective actions.
  • Train and supervise lab technicians and junior staff.

Job Description
  • Perform testing and analysis in accordance with the standard/in-house methods and to comply with QA/QC procedures.
  • To ensure timeliness, precision and accuracy of analytical results to meet turnaround time.
  • Effective implementation and maintenance of MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017, SAMM Policy as well as Group Quality System.
  • Adhere to group HSE safety procedures.
  • Ensure that information from the clients is kept as strictly confidential and never revealed to the third party.
  • Ensure all analytical equipment, apparatus etc are maintained and calibrated as per the required schedule.
  • Ensure root-cause of all non-conformities or customer complaints are to be investigated and identified with appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • To treat proficiency Testing Programmed or Round Robin seriously and make sure the result obtained is most accurate and precise.
  • To train, supervise and monitor lab technicians /Junior Staff with assigned test methods and procedures.
  • To ensure all controlled quality procedures, test methods and document are kept confidentially and restricted within SGS premise.
  • Practice Good Housekeeping and Good Laboratory practice.
  • Adherence to SGS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy by uphold a good safety behavior and exercising necessary standard and process when carry out your responsibilities at all times to ensure compliance to the HSE requirements.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by your reporting manager and/or Senior Management
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field from recognized university/college
  • Minimum 1-4 years’ experience in relevant analytical laboratory however fresh graduates with right and positive attitude are acceptable
