Capy-Era is a Malaysia-based capybara character IP brand. Our core products are cozy, huggable capybara plushies, and we're expanding into a universe of original characters and merchandise. We're a small but passionate team building something meaningful — and we’re looking for a creative partner to grow with us.

Job Description

We are hiring a Character Designer & Product Developer to help bring new characters to life through plush toys and charming packaging. This hybrid creative and product-focused role is ideal for someone who loves both designing adorable characters and turning those designs into tangible, high-quality products.

While plush toys are our core product, you will also contribute to the design and development of related merchandise such as cute pillows, cushions, soft accessories, and other cozy lifestyle items that align with our brand’s warm, comforting aesthetic.

You will be responsible for creating character-driven designs that translate seamlessly across different product types, ensuring consistency and appeal. This includes developing product mockups, technical specifications, and packaging that elevate the overall customer experience. Collaboration with manufacturers and internal teams will be key to delivering products that are both lovable and manufacturable at scale.

Key Responsibilities

Create original character designs aligned with the Capy-Era brand

Develop 2D plush toy concept sheets, expression references, and construction guides

Design packaging elements (tags, boxes, labels) to enhance product appeal

Communicate with manufacturers on samples and revisions

Collaborate with the founder and project manager for product launches

Contribute to character universe expansion and product roadmap

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of experience in illustration, character design, or product development

Proficient in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, Procreate

Strong portfolio showcasing character work and product-oriented design

Experience with plush toys, merchandise, or soft goods is a plus

Able to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines

Good communication and collaboration skills

This position is open to candidate having full working rights for Malaysia

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: RM5,000 to RM7,000 per month, commensurate with experience

Starting salary of RM4,000 - RM5,000 during a 3-month probation period

Salary review and potential adjustment after probation confirmation
