Job description

about the Company

Our client is a leading construction subsidiary of a prominent listed conglomerate in Malaysia. With a strong track record in delivering high-quality building construction projects, the company is poised for its next growth phase — including an upcoming initial public offering. As it builds towards listing, the company seeks a dynamic and strategically minded Chief Executive Officer (Construction) to lead its transformation, elevate operational performance, and position the business as a key player in the construction industry.

about the Job

The CEO will oversee the company’s overall operations, strategic direction, and IPO readiness. This role is critical in shaping the subsidiary’s growth trajectory while ensuring alignment with the vision and expectations of the parent conglomerate.

key responsibilities include:

  • Drive the formulation and execution of long-term business strategies, aligning with IPO milestones, market expansion, and operational excellence.

  • Lead the end-to-end IPO preparation process, including financial governance, compliance, reporting standards, and investor readiness.

  • Manage budgets, drive profitability, and oversee resource planning to ensure sustainable financial growth.

  • Inspire and lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, safety, and innovation.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, regulators, investors, and internal stakeholders, including active collaboration with the conglomerate's group leadership.

  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory, safety, and ESG standards while identifying and mitigating project and operational risks.

about the team

The company currently employs approximately 250–300 staff across construction operations, engineering, project management, and corporate functions.

This position reports directly to the Managing Director and Board of Directors of the listed conglomerate group, working closely with group leadership to ensure strategic alignment and execution.

skills and experience required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.

  • At least 2 years in a senior executive role (CEO, COO, MD) within the building construction industry.

  • Direct experience leading or supporting an IPO process, with strong familiarity in corporate governance, capital markets, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Demonstrated success in managing and scaling a billion Ringgit construction order book.

  • Visionary, results-driven, and technology-savvy with a track record of driving innovation and operational excellence.

culture and benefits

The company promotes a progressive, collaborative, and sustainability-focused culture. As a key part of a larger listed group, the CEO will be empowered to drive innovation and influence the subsidiary’s strategic direction on a national stage.

An attractive remuneration package — including long-term incentive plans — will be offered to reflect the importance of this transformational leadership role.
