Job summary

Star Grocer Sdn Bhd is expanding its Merchandising Team and seeks a commercially driven Category Executive or Category Manager. The role covers managing assigned product categories, negotiating with suppliers, planning promotions, and analysing sales and inventory performance.

Depending on experience, you may be considered for either Category Executive or Category Manager. The company has over 20 stores nationwide and a focus on value-driven, quality groceries for mid to high-end customers.

Qualifications

• Manage assigned product categories to achieve sales, margin and inventory objectives.
• Source and evaluate products and identify opportunities to improve product assortment.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and business partners.
• Negotiate pricing, promotional support, rebates and trading terms with suppliers.
• Monitor sales performance, gross margin, inventory levels and product availability.

• Recommend new products, product delisting and assortment improvements.
• Plan and coordinate promotional activities with suppliers, Marketing and Store Operations.

Job description

Star Grocer is looking for a commercially driven and proactive Category Executive / Category Manager to join our Merchandising Team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing assigned product categories, working closely with suppliers, reviewing product assortment and pricing, coordinating promotions, and analysing sales and inventory performance.

Depending on your experience and capability, you may be considered for the Category Executive or Category Manager position.

What You'll Do

Manage assigned product categories to achieve sales, margin and inventory objectives.

Source and evaluate products and identify opportunities to improve product assortment.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and business partners.

Negotiate pricing, promotional support, rebates and trading terms with suppliers.

Monitor sales performance, gross margin, inventory levels and product availability.

Analyse market trends, customer preferences and competitor activities to identify business opportunities.

Recommend new products, product delisting and assortment improvements.

Plan and coordinate promotional activities with suppliers, Marketing and Store Operations.

Monitor promotional performance and recommend improvements.

Conduct store visits and competitor price checks to ensure market competitiveness.

Work closely with Store Operations to ensure effective execution of promotions and merchandising plans.

Prepare sales, category and supplier reports for Management.

Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
