Job description

The Category and Shopper Insights Manager's primary objective is to initiate, generate, synthesize, and translate all available category and shopper insights into actionable in-store category growth platforms. The manager will collaborate with Category Management, Shopper Marketing, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Consumer Insights teams to develop insights and support category capabilities growth in the market.

Responsibilities include:

Category Leadership

  • Interpret insights to support the commercialization of Shopper Marketing strategies, NPD development, and Shopper Inspired Principles, culminating in the development of Category Growth Platforms.
  • Establish collaborative category partnerships with focus customers to deliver profitable growth for both customers and Blackmores.
  • Partner with regional stakeholders to develop best practice category partnerships and category captaincy with priority customers.

Category and Channel Strategy and Planning

  • Develop 6Ps through understanding of customers, categories, consumers, and shoppers to maximize growth and profitability.
  • Collaborate with Category Development managers to embed Strategic Category thinking and Category Drivers into the channel and with key customers.
  • Support analyses that enable data-based decisions to grow category sales and retailer relationships, working closely with Shopper Marketing, Category Management, Brand, and Sales teams.

Customer & Shopper Initiatives

  • Drive development, prioritization, and management of the annual Shopper Research Learning Plan, identifying critical knowledge gaps and partnering with Customer Category Management teams for research and in-store solutions.
  • Negotiate mutually beneficial solutions with stakeholders and influence decision-makers to improve in-store presence and shopper conversion.
  • Ensure accountability for actionable insights that change shopper or consumer behavior within the VDS category.
  • Collaborate with Shopper Marketing, Category Management, Brand, and Customer Marketing to support data-driven decisions for category growth.

Promotion, Pricing & Trade Investment

  • Work with Marketing and account teams to develop pricing and promotional frameworks for the channel.
  • Coordinate with Group & Region Marketing on portfolio pricing strategies to ensure consistency across regions and prioritize opportunities for sustainable growth.

Who are you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, statistics, accounting, data analytics, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and communicate insights effectively.
  • Proficient in category management software, concepts, analytical techniques; advanced skills in sales data (e.g., Nielsen) and customer data (qualitative & quantitative).
  • Proven track record in defining customer and business strategies through data-driven decision-making.
  • Agile, flexible, with a growth mindset to drive organizational growth.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring to support capability development across regions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Passion for customer focus and delivering results.
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills for problem-solving and future growth planning.
  • Ability to build relationships, initiate action, and adapt to change.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.
  • Experience in Shopper Research and methodology understanding.
