Job description

Job Responsibility

  • Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape within the consumable goods sector, specifically for the Malaysian supermarket environment.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and quality standards, ensuring the company secures the most competitive deals while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Manage inventory levels effectively, utilizing forecasting techniques and data analysis to minimize stockouts and overstocking, optimizing working capital and ensuring product freshness and availability.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales and marketing teams to develop and implement promotional campaigns, product launches, and merchandising strategies to drive sales and increase brand awareness within supermarkets.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, addressing any issues related to product quality, delivery delays, or service levels, and proactively seeking alternative suppliers to mitigate risks and ensure supply chain resilience.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a minimum of Secondary/SPM/'O' Level certification.
  • Possess excellent communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia to effectively interact with internal teams and external partners.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a buying or procurement role within the retail/merchandise sector, preferably within a supermarket environment.
  • Exhibit strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers and vendors.
  • Maintain comprehensive product knowledge across various supermarket categories to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Proficiently manage inventory levels to optimize stock turnover and minimize waste.
