Job summary

PEC SE ASIA SDN BHD is seeking a Business Intelligence & Data Mining Specialist in Penang, Malaysia. You will build and support BI solutions, dashboards, reports, and data analytics to drive strategic decisions across the organization.

You will transform business requirements into effective reporting, analyze large datasets, and work with IT and business teams to improve data availability and reporting standards, enabling scalable, data-driven insights for regional growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, data science, information systems, computer science, statistics, mathematics, or related field.
• 3–7+ years of experience in BI, data analytics, or data mining.
• Experience with enterprise data environments and operational business systems.
• Experience supporting stakeholders through reporting, dashboarding, and analytics.
• Strong SQL skills and querying structured data.
• Proficiency in BI and data visualization tools.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Knowledge of ETL, data modelling, and warehousing concepts.
• Familiarity with Python or other analytic tools is a plus.
• Ability to translate data into actionable business insights.
• Excellent communication of findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, international environment.

Business Intelligence (BI) & Data Mining Specialist

Your Responsibilities

You will be responsible for developing and supporting business intelligence, reporting, data analytics, and data mining solutions across the organization. You will:

• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve BI dashboards, reports, KPIs, and management reporting solutions
• Translate business requirements into effective reporting, analytical, and data visualization solutions
• Combine and analyze large datasets to identify patterns, trends, anomalies, risks, and business opportunities
• Perform data mining and analytical activities to support operational efficiency, cost reduction, revenue growth, and risk mitigation
• Conduct root cause analyses and provide clear, data-driven recommendations to business stakeholders
• Support predictive, trend, and performance analysis initiatives
• Extract, transform, validate, and combine data from multiple systems and data sources
• Ensure the accuracy, consistency, integrity, and quality of business data and reporting metrics
• Work closely with IT and business teams to improve data availability, usability, and reporting standards
• Support the development of a centralized, reliable, and scalable reporting environment
• Present analytical findings and recommendations in a clear and business-friendly manner to operational and management stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to automate and standardize reporting and analytical processes, reducing manual effort and improving efficiency
• Stay informed of emerging BI, data analytics, data visualization, and data management technologies and best practices

Your Profile

We are looking for a highly motivated and results-driven professional who meets the following requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
• 3–7+ years of relevant experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Mining, or related disciplines
• Strong experience working with enterprise data environments and operational business systems
• Experience supporting business stakeholders through reporting, dashboarding, and analytical solutions
• Strong SQL skills and experience querying and working with structured data
• Strong proficiency in Business Intelligence and data visualization tools
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
• Good knowledge of ETL processes, data modelling, and data warehousing concepts
• Familiarity with Python or other analytical tools is an advantage
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into practical business insights
• Able to communicate analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced international environment
