Job description

Job Overview:

VPA Gadget Sdn Bhd, a rapidly growing vape retail chain, is seeking a Business Development & Strategy Manager to drive the planning and execution of growth initiatives across our network of outlets. This role is essential in developing structured business plans, optimizing store performance, and supporting strategic expansion efforts in Malaysia’s regulated vape industry.

You will work closely with senior leadership to strengthen the foundation of our retail operations, implement strategic projects, and ensure our business is positioned for sustainable success in a highly competitive market.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Retail Planning
    • Assist in the development and execution of business strategies specific to vape retail, including expansion plans, outlet performance improvement, and new product rollouts.
    • Support long-term planning initiatives in alignment with company goals and compliance with local vape regulations.
  2. Project Management & Execution
    • Lead key initiatives such as outlet setup, location expansion, and promotional campaigns from planning through to execution.
    • Coordinate with outlet teams to ensure smooth rollouts and adherence to timelines.
  3. Retail Structure & Process Development
    • Develop and refine SOPs, store workflows, and internal documentation tailored to the needs of a vape retail environment.
    • Identify gaps and implement efficient systems to improve daily operations and customer service delivery.
  4. Performance Tracking & Market Research
    • Conduct data analysis on sales, traffic, and store productivity to generate insights and recommendations.
    • Benchmark competitors and industry trends to support data-driven decisions.
  5. Cross-Department Collaboration
    • Work closely with Retail, HR, Marketing, and Inventory teams to support business execution across outlets.
    • Ensure alignment and consistency between store operations and strategic goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Management, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in retail strategy, business development, or project management.
  • Experience in the vape, FMCG, or chain retail industry is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations and Malaysian regulatory requirements for vape products is a plus.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools. Knowledge on Shopify is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
