Business Development Manager Malaysia

As a Business Development Manager, you will be our anchor to establish our foothold and expand in Malaysia.

You will lead, identify, develop, and ensure excellent implementation of our Retail, commercial and PR plans across Malaysia.

This position will work closely with the SEA HUB to oversee the development and management of our Retail channels (e.g. Sephora) to establish excellent PR relations with the Media and Community and develop and build other business opportunities.

You will report directly to the GM SEA based in Singapore.

What will you be doing?
  • Looking out for new opportunities and parties to establish, develop, and maintain Retail and wholesale collaborations within the Malaysian market.
  • Partner with SEA marketing teams to develop and deliver Retail initiatives, lead ongoing management and optimization of marketing channels, including pre-campaign analysis and planning, campaign management, testing, post-campaign strategy and recommendations for future and continuous optimization.
  • Provide input for the marketing strategy for Malaysia market. Help to translate this to tactical plans and execute this.
  • Have a strong Commercial mindset to develop Go-to-market models for different Retail and wholesale channel partnerships across Malaysia.
  • Actively contact and network to gain and maintain high quality partnerships to build awareness and build our presence in Malaysia.
  • Responsible for local PR, social and influencer planning and execution including owning the local PR agency relationship and all associated activities.
  • Serve as an architect of best-in-class campaigns and other initiatives across different offline channels.
  • Liaise closely with the Education team to elevate the brand’s standing in Retail- to be the most trusted skincare expert.
  • Initiate and execute B2B (Business to Business) activities- specifically looking at new avenues of growth- be it through building a healthy collaborations, or extending our footprint across different wholesale channels.
  • Jointly own the country P&L with the GM-SEA and regularly drive commercial optimization to improve upon it.
  • Responsible for achieving financial targets and provide corresponding business analysis (weekly, monthly and quarterly).
  • Creative thinking to continuously optimize and be ROI obsessed.
  • Occasionally translate text – copy and content- from English to Bahasa Melayu.
  • You will be our eyes and ears in the Malaysia market. Always up to date with the latest novities. Know what is trending and what is where we should invest.
What will you bring:
  • Bachelor level education, within Marketing, Communication or related field.
  • Minimal 5-7 Years of experience in a comparable Commercial role.
  • Retail/Offline channel experience is a must.
  • Experience within beauty/skincare is not required, but a plus.
  • Commercial and analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication skills as this role will require a lot of cross functional working across markets.
  • Experience within a Direct-to-Consumer environment or working experience within a consumer brand can be a plus.
  • Result oriented, constantly looking for optimization and new opportunities.
  • Team player. Able to convince and activate others to accomplish the required results.
  • Eager to learn and drive to always be up to date within your discipline.
  • Open mindedness, flexible and agile way of thinking/working.
  • Excellent knowledge of Bahasa Melayu and English language, verbal as well as in writing.
