Job Summary

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Business Development Manager to drive expansion and build strategic partnerships in Malaysia. This role is ideal for a proactive professional with a strong commercial mindset, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a solid background in freight forwarding and logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development & Client Management

  1. Identify, engage and secure new business opportunities in the Malaysian market.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, ensuring long-term partnerships.
  3. Promote the company’s freight forwarding services, including Air and Ocean freight, warehousing, customs clearance, and logistics solutions.
  4. Deliver customized solutions to clients by understanding their supply chain needs and offering tailored services.
  5. Meet and exceed sales targets by proactively engaging with potential clients and expanding the customer base.

Market & Competitive Analysis

  1. Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitor activities, and potential business growth areas.
  2. Analyze pricing strategies and service offerings to position the company as a key player.
  3. Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive and innovative sales strategies.

Collaboration & Customer Solutions

  1. Work closely with overseas agents and local operations to ensure seamless service delivery.
  2. Act as the key point of contact for customers, swiftly resolving any service-related issues.
  3. Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities.
  4. Lead the strategic planning and execution of establishing a new branch in Johor Bahru.
  5. Oversee business operations, infrastructure, and team expansion for the new location.
  6. Identify key business opportunities and partnerships to enhance the company’s presence in the region.
  7. Ensure alignment with company objectives while adapting to local market conditions and regulatory requirements.

The Ideal Candidate:

  1. Minimum 4 years of experience in sales within the freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain industry.
  2. Strong knowledge of international shipping, customs procedures, and logistics operations.
  3. Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  4. Fluent in English & Bahasa Malaysia (both spoken and written). Additional language skills are an advantage.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  7. Willingness to travel within Malaysia and internationally as required.
