Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy aligned with business objectives. It manages talent, succession planning, employee mobility, and oversees frameworks supporting performance management, rewards, learning and development, resourcing, and engagement.

We are seeking a proven leader to join us as Business Change & Industrial Relations Lead - Malaysia. The role will hold overall Employee Relations accountability for Malaysia and lead the Business Change & Industrial Relations Centre of Excellence.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Ensure consistent implementation of organizational guidelines on conduct, diversity, and wellness across multiple locations, balancing risk and business outcomes.
  2. Lead, coach, and develop HR Generalists and Line Managers on Employee Relations topics.
  3. Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as Group Employee Relations and HSBC Confidential to manage complex issues like disciplinary actions, grievances, escalations, and capability processes.
  4. Drive business transformations while fostering constructive industrial relations, ensuring efficient restructuring, strengthening union and social partnerships, and proactively managing people risks.
  5. Engage with external stakeholders, including unions and legal counsel.
  6. Manage complex industrial relations negotiations and disputes to achieve optimal outcomes and mitigate risks.
  7. Collaborate with HR teams and business units to support business strategy execution and risk mitigation.
  8. Support organizational design and restructuring, including redundancies and offshoring.
  9. Provide People Risk Management support to HR functions.
  10. Advise on employee relations issues, internal investigations, and prompt resolution.
  11. Assist in identifying, assessing, and mitigating employment practices and relations risks.
