Job summary

Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad is seeking a Branch Manager in Malaysia to lead overall branch operations, drive sales and profitability, and deliver exceptional customer service. This role requires strong leadership to motivate a large team and ensure compliance with corporate policies across all departments.

The Branch Manager will oversee daily operations, implement sales strategies, manage budgets, and monitor KPIs while coordinating with Head Office to align with regional objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Retail Management, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 5–8 years of retail/ supermarket/FMCG operations experience.
• Proven track record in managing store/branch operations and achieving targets.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily branch operations and ensure compliance with policies and standards.
• Develop and execute sales strategies, marketing initiatives and promotions to hit targets.
• Monitor P&L, revenue, gross profit, expenses and budgets to ensure profitability.
• Manage stock planning, replenishment, inventory control and merchandising for optimal availability.
• Lead, coach and develop branch management team and staff, including manpower planning and performance management.
• Ensure high customer service standards and handle complaints professionally.
• Monitor KPIs and generate management reports; implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with policies, safety standards and internal controls to minimize risks.
• Collaborate with Head Office and other departments to support business objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

As a Branch Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the overall branch operations, driving business performance and ensuring operational excellence. You will lead and motivate the branch team to achieve sales targets, maximize profitability and deliver excellent customer service.

Your key responsibilities include:

Branch Operations Management – Oversee daily branch operations, ensuring all divisions and departments operate efficiently and comply with company policies, procedures and operational standards.

Sales & Business Performance – Develop and execute sales strategies, marketing initiatives and promotional activities to achieve sales targets and drive business growth.

Financial Management – Monitor branch P&L, sales revenue, gross profit, operating expenses and budgets to ensure profitability and cost efficiency.

Inventory & Merchandising Management – Ensure effective stock planning, replenishment, inventory control, stock-taking and merchandising to maintain optimal stock levels and product availability.

People Management & Development – Lead, coach and motivate the branch management team and employees. Oversee manpower planning, recruitment, training, performance management and employee development.

Customer Service Excellence – Ensure high customer service standards, handles customer complaints professionally and implements initiatives to improve customer satisfaction and retention.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting – Monitor branch KPIs and business performance, prepare regular management reports and implement corrective actions to address operational challenges.

Compliance & Risk Management – Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, safety standards and operational controls while minimizing stock losses and operational risks.

Stakeholder Management – Work closely with Head Office, Area Management and relevant departments to support business strategies and achieve company objectives.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management from time to time.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Retail Management, Business Administration, Management or an equivalent qualification.

Minimum 5–8 years of working experience in the retail industry, preferably in supermarket, hypermarket or FMCG operations.

Proven experience in managing overall store or branch operations, preferably in a managerial capacity.

Strong business acumen with the ability to understand P&L, manage budgets and drive sales and profitability.

Good knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, merchandising, stock control and customer service.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and develop a large team.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of SAP or other retail management systems will be an added advantage.

Results-oriented, proactive, responsible and able to work under pressure in a fast-paced retail environment.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with different levels of management and employees.
