Job summary

ENGIE Malaysia is seeking a skilled Utilities Technician/Boilerman to operate and maintain industrial boilers and related utility equipment at customer sites. You will coordinate O&M activities, monitor safety compliance, and ensure uptime for M&E systems including air compressors and chillers, aligned with SLA/KPI targets.

The role requires hands-on technical experience (3+ years) in boiler operation, a Diploma in Electrical/Mechanical or electromechanical engineering, and the ability to work

UTILITIES TECHNICIAN/BOILERMAN

SUBORDINATES : O&M technicians upon company Growth

REPORT TO : O&M Executive / Steam Engineer / O&M Manager

BROAD FUNCTION SUMMARY

Responsible for boiler operation and maintenance, to ensure the optimal performance and safety of industrial boilers with expertise in utility equipment like air compressor and chillers, coordinating and executing the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) activities, at the customer’s sites, of the Utilities plant or Facilities (UPF) and its related Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) machinery equipment and associated systems – complying with the statutory, the health-safety-environmental (HSE) requirements,

Responsible for coordinating, executing, monitoring the UPF life cycle and related O&M services activities in order to achieve the O&M service levels, the UPF performances and to insure the customer satisfaction,

Responsible to coordinate, contribute Hands-on for the O&M team service activities, to monitor, control and supervise sub-contractor’s supplier’s interventions and to log-in, report abnormalities, events and service activities performed on the UPF to his/her immediate superior.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct first-level troubleshooting in case of boiler or auxiliary equipment breakdown.
• Contribute to and update data in the meter reading log sheet.
• Perform chemical analysis to monitor boiler water quality and take immediate action if it deviates from specifications.
• Operate and maintain the steam boiler to achieve and sustain the required pressure and temperatures.
• Oversee day-to-day boiler operations and configure it to meet production targets.
• Maintain good housekeeping (5S) at the boiler's premises and strictly adhere to safety procedures at all times.
• Initiate, coordinate, control and contribute hands‑on for the service quality delivery of the O&M team and/or subcontractors‑suppliers service activities executed on the site UPF for:
• The daily routine and measure checks, operations activities as well as predictive, preventive maintenance interventions on the UPF,
• Any customer complaints, breakdowns, faults & troubleshooting activities on the UPF,
• The corrective maintenance interventions work orders and the agreed UPF repair modification or improvement M&E works,
• ü according to the Service Level Agreements (SLA) defined with customer as well as agreed internal Key Performances Indicators (KPI) within defined related schedule,
• ü insuring UPF performances over life cycle: quality, capacity, availability, efficiency,
• ü complying with the statutory and the health-safety-environmental (HSE) requirements,
• Coordinate, contribute hands‑on and comply with the site O&M processes & best practices: the O&M team field training, the O&M methods (check, measure, maintenance interventions reports & records) , the UPF data measurement and records, the logistic for materials, tools, equipment, spare parts, chemicals, consumables supply, the site office housekeeping,

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

External : Customers, equipment manufacturers, engineering and Companies’ contractors, suppliers, services providers and Authorities,

Internal : ENGIE Services Malaysia HQ or ENGIE Services regional offices, RE Project management & execution, O&M operations teams .

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Responsible for the coordination, the organization, the monitoring, control and execution of all maintenance, repair or works on the UPF at customers’ site, within the scheduled timeframe and in compliance with statutory, company and customer HSE regulations & policies,
• Responsible for the coordination, the organization, the monitoring, control and execution of all maintenance, repair or works on the Solar PV sites, within the scheduled timeframe and in compliance with statutory, company, PPA and customer HSE regulations & policies,
• Responsible for insuring that the O&M team follow, execute the site O&M quality processes and for alerting on abnormalities, reporting regularly and timely key events & activities to his/her immediate superior,

EDUCATION

EXPERIENCE

Experience over 3 years in field for the coordination and execution of boiler and associated equipment Operation & Maintenance, technical services for Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) systems or utilities systems, with hands on experience in any sectors below.

SPECIFIC SKILLS

Knowledge about Mechanical & Electrical systems, instrumentation: Air conditioning-ventilation, chilled water, hot water, steam, boilers, heat pumps, compressed air production and distribution systems associated with supervision, control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.

PERSONALITY

Communicative, active personality, result driven and team spirit person,

Synthetic and fast decision making ability with reporting skills and conscientious with follow-up,

Capable of initiatives in the technical field and taste for customer service relationship,

Ability to work (speak, read, write) fluently in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
