Job summary

SD Guthrie International (SDGI) in Port Klang, Selangor, is seeking a Boiler Apprentice to support daily boiler operations and maintenance activities. The role involves assisting the Boiler Team Leader in planning and scheduling plant maintenance, ensuring safe and efficient boiler operation, and maintaining detailed records of steam production and fuel usage.

• Minimum SPM or equivalent qualification.
• Able to work in shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
• Basic understanding of mechanical or engineering concepts is preferred.
• Good discipline, teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Ensure daily operation checks and work list under the boiler man are completed.
• Assist Boiler Team Leader to plan, organize and schedule maintenance for boilers and auxiliary equipment and maintain records.
• Ensure efficient and safe operation of the boiler and auxiliary equipment.
• Prepare boiler for regular servicing when required and per safety regulations.
• Keep track of spare parts, materials and chemicals for boilers and equipment.
• Maintain records of daily steam production, consumption and fuel usage for month reports.
• Monitor water testing, chemical dosing and softener regeneration as recommended.
• Perform simple maintenance on boiler and equipment, including painting when rust occurs.
• Maintain cleanliness of boiler house, boilers and equipment.
• Carry out other duties as required by the Company.
