Job summary

Cypark Resources Berhad is seeking a Site Person-in-Charge (PIC) for electrical installations at its 2MW Solar PV Plant in Pontian, Johor. The role ensures safe and reliable operation of the plant’s 11kV electrical systems and compliance with Energy Commission requirements.

The candidate will plan MV/LV switching, enforce PTW/LOTO, and supervise technicians and contractors to sustain plant availability with thorough reporting in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Qualifications

• Chargeman BO 11kV competency with relevant authority.
• Minimum three years' experience with high-voltage systems.
• Experience in solar PV plant operations and maintenance preferred.
• Practical knowledge of 11kV switchgear, transformers and protection systems.
• Strong electrical safety, PTW/LOTO and statutory compliance understanding.
• Experience supervising technicians and contractors.
• Able to prepare technical reports in Bahasa Malaysia and English.
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Act as Site PIC for all electrical installations and ensure compliance with Energy Commission requirements.
• Plan and carry out safe MV/LV switching, isolation, earthing and restoration activities.
• Lead and enforce PTW and LOTO procedures.
• Operate, inspect and maintain 11kV switchgear, transformers, LV switchboards, inverters and auxiliary systems.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to support plant availability and performance.
• Diagnose electrical trips and faults, perform root-cause analysis and restore operations promptly.
• Coordinate equipment testing, including insulation resistance, earthing, thermography and protection-relay checks.
• Supervise technicians, contractors and specialist service providers.
• Coordinate with authorities during inspections and planned outages.
• Maintain switching logs, maintenance records and statutory documentation.
• Lead initial response to electrical faults, fire incidents and weather-related emergencies.
• Ensure availability of critical spare parts and propose downtime-reduction improvements.
• Support general site upkeep, including security, fencing, drainage, lighting and housekeeping.

Site Person-in-Charge (PIC) for Electrical Installations

The successful candidate will serve as the Site Person-in-Charge (PIC) for all electrical installations at our 2MW Solar PV Plant in Pontian. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the plant’s 11kV electrical systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Act as Site PIC for all electrical installations and ensure compliance with Energy Commission requirements.

Plan and carry out safe MV/LV switching, isolation, earthing and restoration activities.

Lead and enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Operate, inspect and maintain 11kV switchgear, transformers, LV switchboards, inverters and auxiliary systems.

Execute preventive and corrective maintenance to support plant availability and performance.

Diagnose electrical trips and equipment faults, perform root-cause analysis and restore operations promptly.

Coordinate equipment testing, including insulation resistance, earthing, thermography and protection-relay checks.

Supervise technicians, contractors and specialist service providers.

Coordinate with TNB, regulatory authorities and auditors during inspections and planned outages.

Maintain switching logs, maintenance records, incident reports and statutory documentation.

Lead the initial response to electrical faults, fire incidents and weather-related emergencies.

Ensure the availability of critical spare parts and propose improvements to minimise plant downtime.

Support general site upkeep, including security, fencing, drainage, lighting and housekeeping.

QUALIFICATION

Valid Chargeman BO 11kV Competency Certificate registered with the relevant authority.

Minimum three years of experience as a Chargeman BO 11kV working with high-voltage systems.

Experience in solar PV plant operations and maintenance is strongly preferred.

Practical knowledge of 11kV switchgear, transformers, protection systems, inverters and balance-of-plant equipment.

Strong understanding of electrical safety, PTW, LOTO, HIRARC/JSA and statutory requirements.

Experience supervising technicians, contractors and scheduled maintenance activities.

Able to communicate and prepare technical reports in Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy is an added advantage.

GCPV certification and basic CMMS experience are added advantages.

Willing to be based at the Solar PV Plant in Pontian, Johor.
