Job summary

Great Eastern is seeking an experienced backup and recovery specialist to manage NetBackup infrastructure across enterprise environments. The role requires at least 5 years of relevant experience and a strong understanding of data protection standards.

You will monitor backups, validate recoveries, and coordinate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure continuous data protection and business continuity. The position may involve after-hours support and on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Professional Degree in IT/CS or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in backup and data protection.
• Willing to support after-hours and on-call rotation.
• Familiar with regulatory compliance and data protection standards.
• Familiar with NetBackup Administration, Data Protection & Recovery, Performance Tuning and Backup Troubleshooting & Incident Management.

About the Job

Role holder is responsible to manage, monitor, and maintain backup and recovery systems to safeguard critical business data and ensure business continuity.

• Administered and managed NetBackup infrastructure, ensuring reliable backup and recovery services across enterprise environments.
• Monitored daily backup operations, generated backup health and compliance reports, proactively resolved job failures, and optimized system performance to ensure operational stability and successful backup completion.
• Conducted regular backup validation, recovery drills, and restoration testing to verify data integrity, recoverability, and service readiness.
• Developed, implemented, and maintained backup policies, retention schedules, and recovery procedures in compliance with regulatory, security, and business requirements.
• Analyzed backup infrastructure performance and capacity trends, recommending and implementing improvements to optimize storage utilization, enhance efficiency, and reduce backup windows.
• Collaborated with infrastructure, database, application, and security teams to ensure comprehensive data protection coverage for mission-critical systems and services.
• Administered and supported cloud-integrated backup solutions, including AWS-based backup services, cloud storage repositories, disaster recovery capabilities, and backup lifecycle management.
• Managed and optimized backup integration across cloud-native services and hybrid-cloud environments, ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient protection of on-premises and cloud workloads.
• Participated in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution activities to support business continuity and resilience objectives.
• Identified operational risks, evaluated emerging technologies, and recommended strategic improvements to strengthen enterprise backup, recovery, and data protection capabilities.
