Job summary

StraitsX is seeking a Backend Engineer to join the Card Issuing Team. You will design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs enabling card programs across Southeast Asia. You’ll work with payment providers, third-party systems, and build scalable fintech infrastructure.

The role requires 3–5 years of backend experience, strong Golang, RESTful APIs, and Kubernetes. Join a fast-paced team building issuing platforms with emphasis on reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of backend engineering experience with production systems.
• Strong proficiency in Golang.
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture.
• Experience with MariaDB/MySQL.
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub workflows.
• Experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to learn and operate in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Codex, Cursor, or similar.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs for the Card Issuing platform.
• Build and maintain high-availability scalable systems supporting card issuance and payment processing.
• Work with third-party APIs and payment integrations for local and global card transactions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, performance bottlenecks, and scalability challenges.
• Support regression testing, integration testing, and system reliability improvements.
• Address bugs, technical debt, and operational support requests.
• Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, and technical discussions.
• Implement security and engineering best practices across services and infrastructure.
• Build internal operational tools and reporting systems for platform management.
• Support incident response and on-call duties when required.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, and Operations teams on feature delivery and platform improvements.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate Backend Engineer to join our Card Issuing Team, which is building APIs and infrastructure that enable businesses to launch and manage their own card programs across Southeast Asia.

This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable backend services, support integrations with payment providers and third-party systems, and contribute to the development of a card issuing platform.

What We Are Looking For
