Job summary

Alam Capital Bhd is seeking an experienced Application Migration & Modernisation Specialist - AWS to lead complex migrations from on-premises to AWS and to modernise legacy apps into cloud-native architectures. The role demands hands-on AWS delivery, containerisation with Docker/Kubernetes, and strong IaC expertise.

You will design scalable AWS solutions, manage migration waves, and implement secure, observable cloud environments while collaborating with cross-functional teams in Kuala Lumpur.

Qualifications

• 7–12+ years of IT/application engineering experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years hands-on AWS experience.
• Proven experience delivering enterprise AWS migration and modernisation projects.
• Hands-on production migration experience from on-premises to AWS.
• Strong understanding of legacy, three-tier, web, API, microservices and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong knowledge of AWS compute, networking, storage, databases, security and migration services.
• Experience with rehosting, re-platforming, refactoring and cloud-native modernisation.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, CI/CD, Git and Infrastructure as Code.
• Strong understanding of Linux and/or Windows environments, IAM, encryption, networking and cloud governance.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex migration issues.

Responsibilities

• Assess legacy, on-premises and cloud apps for AWS migration readiness.
• Define migration strategies using the 7Rs: Retain, Retire, Rehost, Relocate, Repurchase, Replatform, Refactor.
• Develop migration waves, sequencing, and cutover plans.
• Execute end-to-end migrations to AWS and perform post-migration validation.
• Design secure, highly available AWS architectures and ensure governance.
• Implement or enhance CI/CD pipelines and IaC practices.
