A leading bank in Malaysia seeks a User Experience and Interface Designer to lead UX strategies and execution across digital banking products. The successful candidate will be pivotal in shaping user interactions and enhancing user satisfaction while overseeing design initiatives and mentoring junior designers. Lead the end-to-end user experience strategy and execution for digital banking products, while remaining hands-on in crafting compelling interfaces and interactions. This role is responsible for driving UX maturity across the Bank while actively producing design outputs—such as screen flows, mockups, and prototypes—to bring concepts to life. As a bridge between business and technology, you will use visual storytelling and rapid prototyping to reduce ambiguity, align stakeholders, and ensure design intent is preserved through development. You will foster a culture of experimentation, inclusive design, and Design Thinking, while delivering tangible impact on customer satisfaction and digital adoption. The role also requires the ability to independently manage multiple concurrent design initiatives, often under tight timelines, while navigating the needs of diverse stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams. To elevate current UX practices, the role will support the exploration and gradual adoption of AI-assisted UI/UX tools to improve design speed, user personalization, and automation potential.
Strategic & Hands-on Execution
Define and own UX strategy and standards across digital channels (web, app, tablet)
Screen flows that visualize journey logic
Wireframes and high-fidelity UI mockups using tools like Figma or Axure
Interactive prototypes for validation and developer alignment
Translate business goals and user needs into intuitive, usable, and visually engaging interfaces
Manage multiple concurrent UX projects independently, balancing speed, quality, and stakeholder expectations
Bridge Between Business and Technology
Visualize the "invisible" through design artifacts that clarify expectations for business and tech stakeholders
De-risk delivery by clarifying interaction logic, edge cases, and integration points early
Champion design as a problem-solving discipline with measurable outcomes
Design Culture & Maturity Uplift
Lead and facilitate Design Thinking workshops, journey mapping, and cross-functional ideation sessions
Mentor junior designers and promote best practices across agile squads
Stay current with design trends including personalization, micro-interactions, accessibility, and dark mode
AI-Driven UX Exploration
Identify and pilot AI-assisted UI/UX tools (e.g., Uizard, Galileo, Framer AI) to enhance layout generation, content creation, and rapid prototyping
Explore AI opportunities for user behavior analysis and design automation
Promote responsible and ethical experimentation with emerging design technologies
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Act as UX lead in cross-functional squads and agile product teams
Support UX decisions with data, user feedback, and iterative validation
Liaise with product owners, developers, risk, and legal to ensure feasibility, compliance, and secure design delivery
Establish and scale reusable UX design systems across platforms
Improve key UX metrics (e.g., task success rate, drop-off rate, digital adoption, NPS)
Embed Lean UX and Design Thinking into agile delivery pipelines
Support future readiness by initiating AI/UX tool adoption in controlled, measurable ways
Ensure compliance with accessibility and regulatory standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1)

Other Capabilities
Strong visual and interaction design skills
Skilled in storytelling, accessibility, usability testing, and system thinking
Effective communicator able to align both business and technical stakeholders
Capable of independently managing multiple fast-paced projects with shifting priorities
Comfortable working under pressure with competing timelines and cross-functional input
Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate with minimal supervision
Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Design, Computer Science, Psychology, or related field
5–8 years of experience in UX/UI design, including at least 2 years in a lead or strategic role
Portfolio demonstrating design leadership, hands-on execution, and collaboration effectiveness
Experience in banking or financial services is an added advantage
