About the Role:

As Automation Engineer at Brooks Automation Malaysia, you will provide electro-mechanical manufacturing engineering expertise to the Manufacturing Engineering team through enhancing the design and implementation of the Robotics Manufacturing Operation.

As a Manufacturing Core Team Member, this role is responsible for driving DFx (design for manufacturability and assembly) and new assembly process design and development throughout the New Product Introduction (NPI) life cycle from concept, development, pilot, launch and volume scale-up ensuring safe, effective, robust, and reliable manufacturing processes.

Work Location: Onsite, Johor Bahru.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Learning and Predictive Algorithm development, while engaging in research, design and automation implementation solutions which are tailored to specific robots and systems.

  • Work with datasets on data association, clustering, segmentation, filtering, machine learning, and feature engineering.

  • Select analytical techniques and model methods best to solve automation challenges within manufacturing environment.

  • Develop tools to analyze raw data and detect potential defects, while implementing the application into a predictive analytics tool and troubleshooting guides.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain continuous improvement programs using LEAN principles, such as DFT (Design Flow Technology), Kaizen, Value Stream mapping, and Kanban, in addition to concepts in Six Sigma statistical analysis of processes.

  • Develop and implement computer vision methods, applications and analysis to production needs.

  • Initiate and collaborate with engineering teams to build model design, optimizing processes, and automating configuration and testing.

  • Drive optimization of assembly processes and associated supply chain related processes.

  • Provide support and/or lead capacity expansion projects, as well as projects to improve product and process robustness.

  • Any other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • M.S./B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or other related fields.

  • Minimum 3 years in engineering / manufacturing environment function; Six Sigma/LEAN qualifications will be a strong advantage.

  • Solid knowledge and experience in the following fields: Machine Learning tools and Algorithms specifically in unstructured data classification and clustering

  • Hands on coding experience in Python/Java or any other OOP, with proven abilities using TensorFlow, Keras, scikit-learn, Data Frames and OpenCV.

  • Curios, with keen a desire to learn and continuously improve.

  • Solid organizational skills, capable of maintaining project plans

  • Good written skills, ability to document and update processes and procedures

  • Strong interpersonal skills, function within Manufacturing, Design, and Quality Engineering teams.

  • Comfortable working with and around both mechanical and electrical equipment.
