Great Eastern is seeking an Audit Specialist to plan, execute, and manage audits across GELM, GEGM, GETB and GELL, under supervision. The role emphasizes risk assessment, internal controls, and continuous improvement.
The candidate will apply internal audit methodology, develop planning documents, supervise team members, and provide actionable recommendations while maintaining regulatory awareness.
The Audit Specialist reports to the Section Head. He or she performs audits under the supervision of the Reviewer. The Audit Specialist is charged with responsibilities of planning, executing and managing the audit engagements, as well as recommending corrective actions based on best practices to improve the internal controls and operational effectiveness of GELM, GEGM, GETB and GELL.
Understand the Internal Audit methodology prescribed in the Audit Methodology Policy, Procedure and Practice Guide and apply it under moderate guidance.
Plan and execute audit field work by developing and completing planning documents such as Audit Planning Memorandum (APM), Resource Allocation Plan (RAP) and Risk, Control & Testing Strategy (RCTS) within the planned scope and time frame.
Executes audits by:
a) Identifying objectives, risks and controls;
b) Identifying process design gaps, improvement opportunities and any instances of over control during walkthrough of business units’ processes;
c) Performing audit tests to identify operating effectiveness issues;
d) Assigning and supervising team members’ work and monitoring their progress;
e) Reviewing team members' working papers, audit findings and documentation in the audit management system;
f) Identifying and understanding the root cause of problems or issues and providing recommendations for improvement;
g) Drafting audit observations and preparing audit report in accordance with specified standards;
h) Providing an opinion on the overall effectiveness of risk management and control of the audited area(s);
i) Performing follow-up on the implementation of agreed action plans; and
j) Collaborating with team through idea generation, and support team members and reviewers with a positive attitude.
Communicates resource needs to Reviewer or CIA on a timely basis; utilise resources to best effect with guidance from Reviewer or CIA.
Develops extensive informal networks and maintain good working relationships with staff members at all levels of the organisation.
Uses data analytics software and audit management system effectively.
Participates in training and coaching of junior team members.
Takes accountability in considering business and regulatory compliance risks and takes appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
Maintains awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats and technologies in order to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
Highlights any potential concerns/risks and proactively shares best risk management practices.
Perform other duties as assigned by CIA.
Degree in Accountancy, Finance or equivalent professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, CIA and CISA.
At least 5 years of relevant work experience, with 2 years in a position leading a team of professionals.
Knowledge on auditing, risk management & governance.
