Job summary

Sarawak Plantation Berhad Group of Companies is seeking an Audit Assistant to be based at its HQ in Miri. The role involves executing financial and corporate audits, preparing working papers and audit reports, and presenting findings to auditees.

You will also contribute recommendations to improve performance and support BAC papers, while helping manage the department budget and travel costs as approved.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accountancy or its’ equivalent from a tertiary institution.
• Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Team player and able to maintain confidentiality.
• Able to work with little supervision, willing to travel on short notice and possess valid driving license.
• Possess strong knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, laws, rules and regulations.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Perform audit assignments (financial / corporate audits) as per approved audit plan and programmes including preliminary works, i.e. determine data requirements, verify and analyse available data prior to commencement of proper audit work.
• Prepare working papers, write up, audit findings and supporting documents for audit report.
• Prepare audit findings and recommendations with the auditee during exit conference.
• Provide suggestions and recommendations for improving performance.
• Assist in preparing and compiling Board of Audit Committee (BAC) papers.
• Prepare the departmental budget and monitor the travelling mandays and costs to ensure expenses within the approved budget.
