Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital is seeking a dedicated staff member to manage linen services and related facilities operations. You will collect, sort, launder, and distribute clean linens across hospital units while maintaining inventory accuracy and sanitation standards.

The role emphasizes adherence to infection control procedures, teamwork with nurses and support staff, and participation in ongoing training to support hospital services and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Collect soiled linens from designated collection points throughout the hospital.
• Sort, count, and record soiled linens for laundering.
• Operate commercial washers and dryers, following loading, chemical usage and machine safety protocols.
• Inspect laundered items for cleanliness and damage; fold, stack and organize clean linen for distribution.
• Deliver clean linens to hospital units, including patient rooms, operating rooms, emergency department, and specialty areas.
• Maintain proper storage and organization of linen inventory in storage rooms.
• Monitor linen usage and report shortages, overages, or damaged items to supervisor.
• Ensure carts, laundry rooms, and distribution areas are clean, organized, and in compliance with hospital sanitation standards.
• Follow all infection control procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
• Assist with periodic inventory counts and linen tracking systems.
• Respond promptly to linen delivery requests from nursing or other departments.
• Maintain accurate records of linen distribution and usage.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisor.

Job description

ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT

5. Deliver clean linens to hospital units, including patient rooms, operating rooms, emergency department, and specialty areas, according to established schedules.

6. Maintain proper storage and organization of linen inventory in storage rooms.

7. Monitor linen usage and report shortages, overages, or damaged items to supervisor.

8. Ensure carts, laundry rooms, and distribution areas are clean, organized, and in compliance with hospital sanitation standards.

9. Follow all infection control procedures to prevent cross-contamination.

10. Assist with periodic inventory counts and linen tracking systems.

11. Respond promptly to linen delivery requests from nursing or other departments.

12. Maintain accurate records of linen distribution and usage.

13. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisor.

2. Participates in the orientation of new members of staff to the services.

3. Participates actively in any other new service that is introduced.

4. Maintain the record of personal leave and training attended.

1. Adheres to the hospital policies and procedure and services code of conduct/ policies.

2. Maintain confidentiality of patient’s or staff personal and medical history.

3. Ensure adherence to Prevention and Control of Infection.

FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT

1. Assists the qualified staff in the following:

• Maintains proper storage of all equipment assigned in the services.

• Check all equipment to ensure that they are in good condition and ready to be used at all time. Report if there is any faulty.

• Maintains adequate supply of services stock [where relevant].

• Keeps accurate records of equipment, medical supplies and drug in the services [kindly delete where appropriate].

SAFETY AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES

1. Complies and promotes any recognized hospital Policies, and protect, promote and support Hospital activities.

2. Participates actively in any other new service that is introduced by the services.

3. Participates in 5S activities and comply with the specified requirements

4. Practices Standard People Practice (SPP) at all times.

5. Ensure compliance of Patient safety goals as safety improvement measures recommended by World Alliance for Patient Safety.

6. Policies on patient and family rights are addressed at all times

7. Participates actively and encourages compliance to all policies and Procedures of ISO9001: 2008, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001:2004, Malaysian Hospital Accreditation Standards, Joint Commission International Accreditation Standards, PSG and NNA.

8. Complies with any instruction or measure on occupational safety and health.

9. Carries out duties as an employee as stipulated in Occupational Safety and Health Act and Regulations 1994:-

1. Carries out responsibilities on customer service:-

• To ensure that the Hospital resources are used efficiently and effectively when dealing with customers.

• To provide physical comfort, specifically relief from pain and pleasant and clean surrounding.
