Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine or Nursing, along with a PhD in Medical Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related field recognized by the Government or its equivalent.
- Preference will be given to candidates with substantial academic experience in teaching and research, particularly in pathology and anatomy.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Flexibility, resilience, and a willingness to work long hours.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students.
- Candidates with strong digital literacy skills are highly preferred.
Language Qualifications
- All candidates must have obtained credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral exam) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
- Candidates must have obtained at least IELTS Band 6 or MUET Band 4.
- Candidates without either qualification will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
Scope
- The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah, Centre, or Department to which he or she is assigned by IIUM.
- The officer is required to perform teaching, examining, research duties, and other responsibilities normally expected of an academic staff member of IIUM.
- The officer must also fulfill moral and religious responsibilities toward colleagues and students as part of his or her duties.
- The officer shall attend meetings of IIUM Authorities, Boards, and Committees as appointed by virtue of the IIUM Constitution, Statutes, Acts, or directives from the Rector, Dean, or Head of the Kulliyyah, Centre, or Department.
- The officer is expected to actively participate in the overall life of the IIUM community.
- The officer must guide and advise students in matters of character, behavior, and moral conduct.
- The officer serves not only as a teacher (Mu’allim) and scholar (‘Alim), but also as a moral educator (Murabbi).
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
- Conducting and facilitating laboratory practical sessions and problem-based learning.
- Developing curriculum and course materials suitable for multiple platforms.
- Collaborating with academic staff to improve teaching methods and expand academic knowledge.
- Setting, invigilating, and grading assignments, tests, and examinations.
- Conducting research and producing academic writings such as papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
- Participating in meetings, conferences, and events both within and outside the institution.
- Taking part in training initiatives offered by the institution.
- Providing support and mentorship to students and colleagues.
- Staying up to date in the field through reading and scholarly publishing.
