Job description

Associate/Senior Associate Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency

About the role

We are seeking both fresh and experienced candidates to take up the role of Associate/Senior Associate to join our dynamic team of Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency professionals in Damansara, Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that will play a crucial role in providing strategic, high-quality, and cost-effective restructuring, insolvency and conveyancing services to our clients.

What you'll be doing

  1. Advising clients on all aspects of corporate restructuring and insolvency, including corporate rescue mechanisms, bankruptcy, and winding-up proceedings.
  2. Drafting and negotiating complex legal documents, such as schemes of arrangement, debt restructuring agreements, and liquidation plans.
  3. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of conveyancing documents, including sales and purchase agreements, loans agreements and transfer documents.
  4. Advising clients on property related matters, including title searches, property ownership and legal compliance.
  5. Conducting in-depth financial and legal analysis to identify the best course of action for clients.
  6. Liaising with various stakeholders, including creditors, shareholders, and regulatory authorities.
  7. Staying up-to-date with the latest industry regulations, trends, and best practices.
  8. Providing excellent client service and building strong relationships with key clients.
  9. For the position of Associate, the role and responsibilities generally include assisting the Senior Associates.

What we're looking for

  1. For Senior Associate, at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in corporate restructuring, insolvency or conveyancing preferably gained within a medium or large commercial accounting or law firm or the in-house legal or finance team of a medium/large organization.
  2. Candidates should possess at least a Bachelor's degree/Post graduate Diploma or Master's degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Law or equivalent or Professional qualification such as AACA and CPA.
  3. Some experience in a wide range of corporate structuring and insolvency practices.
  4. Proven ability to provide pragmatic, high-quality, and commercially-focused services to both operational staff and senior stakeholders.
  5. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to balance working autonomously and in a collaborative team environment.
  6. Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively explain complex legal concepts to both legal and non-legal audiences.
  7. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply for the role of Associate.
  8. Candidates without the above academic qualifications but with at least 4 years experience in conveyancing matters with a medium or large legal firm may be considered for an Associate position.
