Job Responsibility

Scope

  • As a Law Lecturer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of legal professionals.Your responsibilities will include teaching, curriculum development, research, and community engagement.You will aim to deliver an outstanding educational experience.This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about both law and education.You will contribute to the academic and professional development of students.
  • The candidate shall be a member of either the Civil Law Department, Islamic Law Department, or Legal Practice Department at the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws.You will be responsible for teaching, examining, conducting research, and fulfilling other duties normally required of IIUM academic staff.
  • You are also expected to uphold moral and religious responsibilities towards colleagues and students as part of your role.
  • As a lecturer and academic staff member, you are required to attend relevant meetings.These meetings may be related to administrative positions or held under directives issued by the Rector, Dean, or Head of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department/Institute/Office/Mahallah.

  • Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in various law subjects.

Remuneration: Basic salary starting from RM6,560.00 to RM15,360.00 (based on experience) with fixed allowances.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must hold a Doctorate (PhD), Masterâs, and Bachelorâs degree in Laws from a recognised university.

Minimum Competencies

  • Candidates must have strong academic qualifications, teaching skills, and research capabilities.
  • Personal attributes such as student engagement and commitment to academic contribution are essential.
  • Prior experience in teaching and research in higher education is an added advantage.

Other Requirements

Candidates applying for this senior academic position must have a solid foundation in law.In addition, proficiency or specialization in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred:

  • Conveyancing lawyers may teach Conveyancing Practice, Law Practice Management, and Legal Correspondence.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills are required.A strong track record of research publications and academic community participation is highly desirable.

Language Qualifications

  • All candidates must have the following:
  • Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognised by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
  • IELTS Band 6 or MUET Band 4.
  • Candidates without the required English qualifications must sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
