Job summary

A global technology company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Database Administrator to install, upgrade, and maintain database software. The ideal candidate has over 4 years of IT operational experience and at least 2 years supporting Oracle databases. Proficiency in SQL Server, MySQL, and the ability to converse in Mandarin or Cantonese are advantageous. This position may require support during various shifts.

Qualifications

• 4+ years IT Infrastructure & Operations experience.
• Minimum 2 years supporting Oracle database with Data Guard, Partitioning, RAC.
• Proficiency in MySQL/MariaDB Database administration.

Responsibilities

• Install, upgrade, patch database software.
• Maintain database operation including backup, restoration, and performance tuning.
• Provide production support for enterprise systems.

Description and Requirements

You will:

Install, upgrade, patching database software

Maintaining database operation including backup and restoration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, monitoring and capacity planning etc

Provide production support of large scales enterprise systems for internal and external clients

Provide support in change, incident and problem management

Participating in technical tasks of database vulnerability check, security tools implementation, server upgrade, migration and troubleshooting

Create and maintain batch and shell script in various platform

You bring:

University graduate in Computer Science or related disciplines

4+ years IT Infrastructure & Operations experience

Minimum 2 year’s experience supporting an Oracle database including Data Guard, Partitioning, RAC, multitenant etc

Experience in database performance tuning and SQL tuning

Experience in database backup using software including IBM TSM, Networker and NetBackup

Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server / MySQL / MariaDB Database administration

Knowledge of IBM DB2 database administration

OCP certificate is an advantage

Able to read and write Chinese or converse in Mandarin/ Cantonese will be an advantage to support Hong Kong clients

Able to support shift hours and weekends on rotation basis:

• Primary Morning (M) working hours : 7:00am – 4:00pm
• Primary Afternoon (A) working hours : 3:00pm – 12:00am
• Primary Night (N) Working hours: 11:00pm – 8:00am
